Today we met with the Deputy Provincial Commissioner & @SAPoliceService leadership to reflect on the 2024 GBV training across 40 stations in the Overberg and West Coast. The meeting focused on key findings, application in practice & community feedback.

As we observe Human Rights Day, marking 30 years of SA’s Bill of Rights, @IlithaLabantu reflects on progress and gaps. For many women & children, dignity, equality & justice remain unevenly realised. Collective responsibility and Ubuntu must drive positive change. #HumanRightsDay

Throughout the programme, officers demonstrated strong commitment and dedication, strengthening their capacity to respond to GBV with professionalism, care and understanding, contributing to improved responses and safer communities.

As we mark #HumanRightsDay, @IlithaLabantu celebrates 90 @SAPoliceService officers from the Garden Route District graduating in George, WC after completing our Gender Responsive Policing training, in partnership with @unwomenSA & @IrlEmbPretoria, to strengthen responses to GBV.

Partnerships that advance gender equality!🇿🇦 Today we had a joint site visit with our partners to @SAPoliceService stations in George, Thembalethu, Pacaltsdorp & Knysna where police received training on handling GBV cases, presented by @IlithaLabantu supported by @IrlEmbPretoria.

As we observe #WorldSocialWorkDay (17 March 2026), we recognise the vital role of social workers in strengthening communities. This year’s theme, “Co-Building Hope and Harmony,” highlights unity and collective care. We honour those making a difference daily.

@IlithaLabantu, alongside @NPA_Prosecutes, @RapeCrisis, @childline, the @DOJCD_ZA Master’s Office, Equal Education, Project Playground and Realistic, hosted an International Women’s Day engagement on advancing equal access to justice for women under the theme “Give to Gain.”

@IlithaLabantu, with Lingelethu West @SAPoliceService and community partners, held the #Uthuleleni Anti-GBVF Motorcade in Khayelitsha following the killing of Sisipho Mongo (23), standing in solidarity with her family and calling for justice and an end to GBVF. #EndGBVF

@IlithaLabantu & AWIF hosted a #CSW70 side event in New York titled "From Lived Realities to Lasting Change", the discussion centred frontline voices and highlighted how community-state partnerships can strengthen justice systems & access to justice for women & girls

@IlithaLabantu joined @SAPoliceService Harare, CPF & NHW at Nomsa Maphongwana Primary School for a school-wide awareness programme addressing sexual abuse, crime in schools and substance abuse. Collective action remains key to safeguarding learners & building safer communities.

Day 2 of Ilitha Labantu’s Responding to GBV Safely: First Responder Training strengthened practical, trauma-informed skills. Through scenario discussions and referral mapping, participants deepened survivor-centred approaches and reinforced accountability in first response.
