To all the Blackhawks fans calling this an overpay and me an idiot, not a single one of you would have had the stomach to make the Mathew Tkachuk trade that Florida made a couple years ago. TBH I understand STL fans saying no because they want a premium asset, but don’t think they’ll actually get a better offer than what I posted.

@BenPopeCST So KD turned down a potential 1st (minimum 2nd) so he can get a 7th Bravo, Kyle!

@gwizzy12 Real question, why can’t a B1G school afford a brand new to order court? Is the budget so tight they need to bargain hunt the playing a surface for 2 profitable sports

@stvdanielhunt @two_down_auto @AndrewBrandt If you consider it a building loan from the state, using the prime rate of 6.75% the Bills would need to generate 1.5 billion in tax revenue at year 20 for it to be paid off So where’s the other 2/3rds coming from?

@stvdanielhunt @two_down_auto @AndrewBrandt NFL median active salary is 259 Bills is 244 Income tax in NY is 10% Half of the games are in NY 503*0.10= 50.3M 50.3/2= 25.15 25.15*20= $503 million Now we haven’t even put in bonus money which is mostly likely being paid out of state where they live the rest of the year

Chicago fans keep complaining about the lack of support for Bedard and how Davidson needs to start adding this offseason. And yet with any trade proposal for a star player that comes up, I see a flurry of "We can't get rid of X piece" comments. You're not gonna be able to upgrade this team without making some sacrifices. Bipolar ass fanbase needs to figure out what they want #Blackhawks

@IlliniStan22 @two_down_auto @AndrewBrandt If I did my math correct, around $600M will be offset by player salaries. That doesn't take into consideration job creation, money brought to hotels, restaurants, etc or ticket sales, food/drink, parking and more. There is a reason every state that loses a team wants one back.

@BR_OpenIce This is inaccurate, please correct. I reported that Vegas has withheld permission and not outright denied. There is nuance and a clear difference.

@Mdwst_College @RidingThePine21 Levshunov was a league worst defenseman. He can’t shoot or make quick decisions. Korch needs a huge improvement because the AHL game isn’t looking good for someone going into D+5 year. Vlasic is pretty much at his ceiling Rinzel is the most promising for improvement

@IlliniStan22 @RidingThePine21 Hoping for improvement isn't hoping, its how most defenseman transitions go. Pick your favorite defenseman that isn't a smaller puck moving defenseman. This isn't new haha They are linked to a bunch of guys. We will see who they can actually get but they seem ready to try.

Are you suggesting that moving out a locker room cancer and one of the worst NHL contracts for a young number one goalie and a 1st round pick wasn't a big trade/move? Or that moving Jason Dickinson (both transactions) and Connor Murphy for a 1st round pick and two second round picks wasn't a big move? Or that acquiring Petr Mrázek for a 1st round pick wasn't a big move? Look. Sure Kyle hasn't traded for a "superstar" But to suggest his trading/making moves is lacking is just bat shit insane. He has one of the best trade track records in the game.
The Rinkside General@RinksideGeneral

One of the biggest differences between successful rebuilds and failed rebuilds is the ability to make important trades. The most famous one is Florida trading for Tkachuk. When Cutter Gauthier unexpectedly became available, Anaheim jumped in and made the trade happen. When Montreal realized they had a huge hole at RHD, they made the trade for Dobson happen (and they'll probably make a couple more moves this offseason). Buffalo is nowhere near their current position if they didn't fleece in the JJ Peterka deal. Even non-rebuilds have made a living off those moves (Carolina making the most of the Rantanen situation, Minnesota trading for Hughes, Colorado trading for two goalies and for Devon Toews and Kadri and several others, etc.) The biggest disconnect between Kyle Davidson and the #Blackhawks fanbase is that so far, he's *tried* to make big moves but has failed. Once he closes out a big deal, the fanbase's narrative will quickly change.

@Mdwst_College @RidingThePine21 Getting rid of a league best PK is bad. Murphy was excellent on the Oilers Frondell will be good, likely a 60 point guy Kantserov is an unknown for NHL translation Who will KD add? 4) Based purely on hope 3rd line is good, but they are needle movers

@IlliniStan22 @RidingThePine21 Downgrade because they traded Connor Murphy? Lol I think the plan to be better is pretty simple: 1) Full season of Frondell 2) Add Kantserov 3) Finally make a move for top 6 F 4) incremental improvements from Lev/Rinzel/Korch/Vlassic Lardis and Moore can float in middle 6.

@Mdwst_College @RidingThePine21 The team will have 1 (one=Bedard) Top 100 skater in the NHL for 2026-27. How is this team going to make a jump with a defensive downgrade?

@IlliniStan22 @RidingThePine21 Vezina caliber...first half of the season. The average age of the team after the TDL was like 24. It was the youngest in the NHL by a lot. It's not that hard to see the talent collecting. Frondell is going to be really good. This is the season finally to get a top 6 forward.

@Mdwst_College @RidingThePine21 Considering the team got worse after the TDL and there’s no sign of the team being better in front of a goalie that had a Vezina caliber season.

@IlliniStan22 @RidingThePine21 They played a lot of games as the youngest team in the NHL. For better or worse, they rolled with a lot of the kids. The expectation next year should be to still be playing meaningful hockey in February/March. Not hard to see what's building though.
