A late new year post… 2025 was a huge year for me. You know, I mostly post football related pieces here, life in general rarely takes centre stage on this platform. From a football perspective: I celebrated my fourth year commentating on football, and my team, Nottingham Forest, including at Wembley & for Premier League productions. Meeting idols including Martin Tyler, Peter Drury, et al, and building great friendships in the space, always learning from them. From a life perspective: I’ve had emotionally one of the toughest years ever. Moving 10,000 miles from home, enduring relationship breakdowns, learning to be an adult, truly. I took therapy for the first time this year for my anxiety, panic attacks, and personal related situations. But I’m proud of how I’ve come out of the year. I’m enjoying what life is throwing at me. Moving to Australia for a year is the best decision I made. It’s easy to look at the year and think you’ve not done much. Looking at social media and thinking you’re underachieving. But sometimes all it takes is just a moment to reflect: where were you last year? Where were you the year before that? Etc. you’ve come a long way, you should be proud. I don’t share much of my personal doings on here because, well, I like to talk football and some other sports. It’s my outlet, I love it. Alongside this, I appreciate the support and engagement with my work & opinions, the feedback, the critics, all of it. Thank you. This year also saw me start my podcast, @MakingItPoddy, and my new blog, and I’m immensely proud of that. Furthermore, I know the opportunities the next year will bring and how exciting they will be. I wish you all the happiest, healthiest and most prosperous 2026 for you, your family and friends. My inbox is always open, let’s make this year a great one! Jamie ❤️ #NewYear2026

Part way through this. What a brilliant brain Lijnders is. To open source your process whilst still active is so brave but such a service to the football world. Think that’s so admirable.

I preferred to watch Neymar, but over the course of his career, I wouldn’t say he was better than Rooney. Rooney was at the top for longer; but like I said, Neymar - for me - more enjoyable to watch. Thoughts?

Honestly sickening the difference in treatment between not just Chelsea and “smaller clubs”, but all the ‘big six’ and said clubs. Chelsea surely the straw that breaks the camels back in a change to governance, or so you’d hope, One rule for them… #NFFC

🚨In the Forest PSR case, the Premier League submitted: "that the 50% discount suggested by Forest is too high: it gives too much credit for admission and cooperation and would be both disproportionate to the conduct being rewarded" Yet in Chelsea agreed co-operation as mitigation for NO sporting sanction.

Gols do Brasileirão ⚽️🇧🇷
Can’t convert to save our lives at the moment. Not getting in a proper striker in January hurting us beyond belief; we need a miracle with Woody. #NFFC

Jalen Ngonda, wow, just wow! Watched him in Newtown, Sydney, and what a talent he is - honestly, probably the most amazing concert I’ve been too. Raw talent, unbelievable crowd control, and a ridiculous passion for what he does. Give his stuff a listen, highly reccomend

Jack Colback, what a player he was for us. From no game time to becoming an immediate starter - so crucial for us in that promotion run. Wishing him all the best in his retirement! #NFFC

On Edu & the future for Forest; It’s hard to say exactly how much of this seasons failings are directly down to him - smokescreens, etc,, but what we can say is, it’s one less ego. The club, I think, maybe has an ego problem, correlating to this failing culture. We need a vision followed by everyone, a consistent outlook and a strategy. Edu, albeit someone I was at one point excited to see join, has underperformed in his role. His first, and biggest mistake, his fall out with Nuno. Pride must be put aside, and respect given, Nuno deserved that - he made Forest the European-playing side they are now. If he is the man to take the blame for some reckless recruitment, his level is clearly not that of the Premier League. For me, it’s good riddance. That’s enough on Edu. If we are to stay up, there’s a huge opportunity to be had; yes, I think we lose some stars, Anderson for certain, Murillo more then likely, MGW I can envision it. The opportunity? A new chapter and story. A chance for those overlooked to step up, and for new players to come in and lead the club in a new direction. I’ve always supported our ownership, and still do, but they need to - I feel - have a better structure at the club, like we had previously with Dourekas & Wilson, and allow those people to do the “football stuff,” in informal terms. Furthermore, on ticket prices, and regarding that culture, it isn’t just in the dressing room and board we need a consistently unified culture, it’s in the stands too. Pricing out the next generation, the current, and some of our most senior supporters is an extremely poor move. I hope, for everyone’s sake, sense prevails. Increasing prices and not having a category for those in the 18-24 range, is a grave mistake. A huge push up to the end of this season, let’s hope we stay up, and can lay down foundations for a new chapter in this project - without Edu - and build something here on. Smarter recruitment, a clear plan, better pathways for our academy players, and so forth. A little musing from me! #NFFC
