Always in favour of changing reservations based on economic background rather than caste. @PMOIndia @narendramodi @AmitShah @smritiirani Please change this system as well. Not only Brahmins, all 'General' category students may not be rich, similarly all 'SC/STs' may not be poor.

A Chinese monk once walked from China to India. It took him eight years, crossing deserts and mountain ranges, just to attend a university. When he finally arrived, the gatekeepers rejected 7 out of every 10 people who showed up. His name was Xuanzang, and the university was Nalanda. He left China in 629 CE and reached the gate in 637. If he hadn't written the journey down in a book, we'd dismiss the story as a legend today. Nalanda had been operating for over 200 years by the time Xuanzang walked through the gate. An Indian king named Kumaragupta I founded it around 427 CE, back when most of Europe was still picking up the pieces after Rome fell. Oxford would not start teaching for another 669 years. Bologna, Europe's oldest university, would not open until 1088. At its peak, the campus held 10,000 students and 2,000 teachers. That works out to five students per teacher, a ratio most modern universities can't hit even today. Students came from China, Korea, Tibet, Japan, Persia, Turkey, and Indonesia. Tuition cost nothing. The king had assigned entire villages to Nalanda, and the produce and rent from those villages paid for everything. Students studied medicine (what we now call Ayurveda), math, astronomy, logic, grammar, metalworking, politics, and the art of war. This was a Buddhist monastery with a course on military strategy. Aryabhata, the mathematician who first proposed that the earth spins on its own axis around the year 499, may have led Nalanda in the 6th century. The library was its own complex of three separate buildings. One of them stood nine stories tall. Tibetan records estimate it held around 9 million manuscripts, every single one copied by hand. They had no printing press, no mass-produced paper, nothing but ink, dried palm leaves, and monks who copied texts for decades on end. The end came in 1193 CE. An invading army led by Bakhtiyar Khilji rode in, killed thousands of monks, and set the library on fire. The fires burned for three months. A Persian historian wrote that smoke hung over the hills like a dark cloud for days. Centuries of work in medicine, math, and astronomy went with it. Most of it was unique to Nalanda and gone forever. The ruins sat forgotten for 619 years. In 1812, a Scottish surveyor named Francis Buchanan-Hamilton came upon them while mapping the region. He had no idea what he'd stumbled onto. Another 50 years passed before anyone identified the site as Nalanda. UNESCO made it a World Heritage site in 2016. The new Nalanda University opened on nearby land in 2014, and its 485-acre net-zero campus was formally inaugurated in June 2024. The original Nalanda operated for 766 years before Khilji shut it down. Harvard, for scale, is 390 years old. If Nalanda had survived, it would be turning 1,600 next year.

My older sister was 17 when our mom left. She dropped out for a year so I wouldn’t have to switch schools. She packed my lunch every day. She lied and told me she wasn’t hungry so I would eat more. I didn’t understand then. I do now. She’s 29. I’m 24. Last week I paid off the last bit of her student loan without telling her. Just sent the receipt. She called me crying. I said, “You carried me when you were still a child. Let me carry you now.” She still checks if I’ve eaten. I still make sure her bills are covered before mine. Two kids who had no manual. Now we’re building a life that doesn’t feel like survival anymore.

In a tragic incident in Bengaluru, a woman allegedly killed her teenage daughter before committing suicide at their residence. The deceased have been identified as Suvarna, 40, and her daughter Karunya, 14. According to preliminary information, Suvarna is suspected to have smothered her daughter to death inside a room and later hanged herself from a ceiling fan. The incident from Immedihalli under the Whitefield police station area came to light late on Tuesday morning when family members checked on them after repeated phone calls went unanswered. Police said that Suvarna’s husband, Chandrashekar, had left for work as usual in the morning. When his calls to his wife went unanswered, he asked his brother to visit the house and check on them. When the brother entered the room at around 11 a.m., the incident came to light. Whitefield police rushed to the spot, conducted an inspection and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway. According to Suresh Kumar, brother of the deceased Suvarna, the couple had been married for 18 years and had two children. Their son is currently studying in a hostel, while Karunya was living with her parents and grandparents. Family members said they are unaware of the exact reason behind the incident. However, Suvarna’s sister Usha indicated that financial stress may have driven her into depression. “She was upset over financial issues and often spoke to me about difficulties in managing expenses. We suspect this could be the reason behind her taking the extreme step. But it is painful that she also killed her daughter. A detailed investigation must be conducted,” she said. Police are continuing their probe to ascertain the exact cause of the incident. “Whitefield police station received information stating that the mother and daughter had died at 11 a.m. today. Whitefield police officers and SOCO team visited the spot, and they came to know that the mother had smothered the daughter and hanged herself,” a police statement said. Two cases have been registered — one on a complaint given by husband Chandrashekar for his daughter’s killing by his wife and another by Suvarna’s brother Manjunath expressing doubt over the death, it added.

Another tragic incident has occurred in Bengaluru. Whether it was a momentary rage or disgust with life is unknown, but a horrifying incident has taken place under the Whitefield police station limits where a mother killed her daughter and then committed suicide. This act took place in Immadihalli, near Whitefield in the city. Suvarna (40) and her 14-year-old daughter Karunya are the deceased. According to preliminary information, Suvarna first smothered her daughter Karunya to death. After confirming that her daughter was dead, she hanged herself from a fan in the same room. When there was no response from inside the house on Saturday and the door remained closed for a long time, suspicious neighbors and family members informed the police. When Whitefield police arrived at the spot and broke open the door, they found the mother-daughter bodies. The daughter's body was lying on the bed, while the mother was found hanging from the fan. The exact reason for the suicide and murder is not known yet. It is suspected that internal family discord, financial difficulties, or some mental stress that Suvarna was experiencing might have caused this incident. The fact that 14-year-old Karunya, who should have lived a full life, was killed by her mother has plunged the entire Immadihalli area into grief. Upon learning of the matter, senior police officers from the Whitefield division and local police visited the spot and conducted an inspection. An FSL team also arrived and collected evidence. The bodies have been sent to the hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered at the Whitefield police station, and police are recording statements from family members. Investigations are also ongoing to determine whether mother Suvarna wrote any death note before her death.

@Soniaanvj Both are at fault.. if the passenger is concerned about hygiene, he should bring his own helmet or book a cab instead of a bike. The driver should've cancelled the ride if the passenger didn't want to follow the safety rules.

A simple Uber ride in Jaipur turned into a ₹1000 problem. A passenger refused to wear the helmet, calling it “dirty” and unhygienic. The driver even offered two helmets but both were rejected. Then traffic police stepped in. ₹1000 fine. Reason — passenger not wearing a helmet. And guess who had to pay ? The driver. Things escalated quickly. The passenger blocked the driver’s ID and even complained to customer support. The driver, already under pressure, deducted the fine from his earnings and demanded the passenger pay for it. An argument followed. Driver’s side :- ₹1000 is a big loss for someone earning daily. Passenger’s side :- wearing a dirty helmet isn’t safe either. Authorities were clear rules are rules. Helmet is mandatory. who was right - passenger or driver ? And has this ever happened to you ?

Many of us women start being sexualized at extremely young ages. We have to absorb the sexual advances of men who could be our fathers, uncles, brothers. We get followed walking home from elementary, jr high & highschool by whistling men in cars. Hearing their vulgar & predatory advances, having to run in the door quickly and lock it behind you for fear they're coming in after you. The experiences are endless as a little girl. For us girls who experience childhood trauma, we lose our childhood in those moments. We lose our sense of self, of safety, become hyper vigilant out of fear and survival. These feelings never leave us.

I was watching Dhruv Rathee's latest video while having dinner, and honestly, I was laughing throughout. He kept quoting what seemed like factually incorrect claims, apparently picked up from different social media platforms. But there was one moment where things suddenly changed, and it genuinely made me think. Throughout the video, while referring to Aditya Dhar and Narendra Modi, he used words like "uska" and "tu," which come across as casual or even disrespectful. However, the moment he started talking about Atiq Ahmed and his brother, who were killed in an encounter, his tone shifted noticeably, and he began using words like "unke" and "unke liye," as if showing a certain level of respect. Now, I understand that he may have strong disagreements with Dhar and Modi, but imagine showing more respect to a criminal who himself admitted to having links with the ISI. At this point, it honestly feels like Dhruv Rathee isn't even trying to hide it anymore. By Pranjal Malviya

I once got into a fight with my ex because I said no to having sex one night. What made it worse was I was on my period, but he kept insisting I was lying just to avoid him. I got frustrated and raised my voice. He responded by slapping me, and everything spiraled from there. I was hurt badly that night. Things got out of control, neighbors had to step in, and I ended up staying at their place. The next morning, I left and cut him off completely. No one should ever have to explain or defend a “no.” And no one should be punished for it.

one of my guy friends was never in favour of marriage. He had a girlfriend who wanted to marry him, but he kept delaying. long story short, the girl had to leave him because there was no future. Within a few months, he met another girl whom he adored and got engaged to her in 6 months. now they are getting married this year. This is a real-life example of “if he wants to, he will.”
