This is huge: Llama-v2 is open source, with a license that authorizes commercial use! This is going to change the landscape of the LLM market. Llama-v2 is available on Microsoft Azure and will be available on AWS, Hugging Face and other providers Pretrained and fine-tuned models are available with 7B, 13B and 70B parameters. Llama-2 website: ai.meta.com/llama/ Llama-2 paper: ai.meta.com/research/publi… A number of personalities from industry and academia have endorsed our open source approach: about.fb.com/news/2023/07/l…

Yup, @Microsoft's @GitHub is being sued for stealing your code: We’ve filed a lawsuit challenging GitHub Copilot, an AI product that relies on unprecedented open-source software piracy. githubcopilotlitigation.com What do you think?

@github copilot, with "public code" blocked, emits large chunks of my copyrighted code, with no attribution, no LGPL license. For example, the simple prompt "sparse matrix transpose, cs_" produces my cs_transpose in CSparse. My code on left, github on right. Not OK.

@RibShark Encouraging the use of the GPL, such as id software did with some of doom and some of their other games, is another way of preserving software that I think is much fairer than forcing the loss of copyright for their work.

RE the Nintendo eShop situation: I believe that copyright owners of digital media should be required to keep that media available for purchase via reasonable means, otherwise the copyright should expire quickly and the work fall into the public domain.

@z3rodown @rebeldottie @xcistx This was an established pattern in singleplayer, and maybe private servers. On bnet it would result in a temp ban, at least in v1.14. Still sucks you can't do it online though.

@magheru_san @_xerz_ @DanielFore Nix/Guix again sounds like something you could be interested in. They can do some sort of containerizing, and afaik works pretty well with servers, and shgould be relatively easy to deploy the exact same server setup on a fresh install.

@_xerz_ @DanielFore Flatpak is a good option for desktop use cases, but it's not supposed to be used for servers or for example to install software inside Docker containers. So for the foreseeable future it won't replace the native package managers. And then we also have Snap for the same thing.

@magheru_san @DanielFore You could check out nix and guix. Afaik should be universal package managers you can install on different distros, though they also have their own distros.

@DanielFore As a user I'd like to see a single package manager that works the same across distros and OSes, allowing to transparently use different underlying package formats. homebrew seems pretty close to this idea at least on macOS, but it would probably never be adopted by Linux distros

@brookgamingfans It doesn't seem like it is available through any of the official global sellers, the amazon links from your home page. Will they be available again, or are they out of production?
