Update from NWS [with my comments]: "Our 12z balloon sounding shows lots of instability and shear with [nerd alert!] MLCAPE of 2461 J/KG and 0-1km SRH near 200 m2/s2 [This is a decent amount of storm energy]. These values are expected to increase some into the afternoon hours as the stalled boundary lifts slowly northward, clouds begin clearing out south of it and daytime heating kicks into gear. Based on our latest thinking and the HRRR model, indications are that current thunderstorm activity should decrease in coverage and intensity the rest of the morning, but increase again this afternoon into the evening both along and south of the boundary. Damaging winds, large hail, flash flooding, and a few tornadoes all remain possible, with the highest flash flood threat generally north of the i-40 corridor."
