I’m a fan of the creeds. But mere “profession” of creeds is a bad take. I remember hearing a liberal college professor say he “believed the Apostle’s Creed” and yet he played hermeneutical gymnastics with it.

The label “heretic” gets thrown around way too easily these days. If you profess the Nicene Creed & the Apostles’ Creed, you count as a legitimate Christian. Period. Christians will always disagree about important political & social issues and matters of doctrine. But at the end of the day, if someone affirms the essential truths outlined in the creeds, they are not heretics or apostates. 🎙️Holy Post 670 with @philvischer, @skyejethani & @kaitlynschiess

This is just bad theology. It assumes theological development ceased in 381 A.D. What about Chalcedon, Pelagianism, the Reformation, and theological anthropology facing the church today? The church isn’t *adding* to orthodoxy. The church is *applying* orthodoxy to new issues.

My family and I just spent most of the day @museumofBible - and this is not an ad - it is one of the best museum experiences I’ve ever had. In particular: The walk through of the Old Testament/Hebrew Bible is remarkable. It is truly world class - top to bottom. Was thinking of how fun it would be to do a @KnowingFaithPod live there!
