This evening was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced. At 8 o’clock, my girlfriend Laura and I sat down on the sofa to enter virtual reality—but this time, it wasn’t for work or exploration. It was to join about 50 others in an immersive memorial for Daniel D Bryant a friend we had spent so much time with inside VR.
What unfolded was both remarkable and deeply emotional. Chris Madsen had created something truly special—a tribute that you can see in the video attached. In it, Daniel is seen hugging Chris, Tom, and Ziggy on a beach before stepping onto a boat and taking us all on a beautiful, symbolic journey crafted in the virtual environment called Engage.
Laura and I couldn’t hold back the tears. For over an hour, we were immersed in this shared moment of grief, love, and remembrance, all within a digital space that had brought us together with Daniel in the first place.
I feel so fortunate to have worked with Daniel on various projects inside ENGAGE XR His passion, creativity, and kindness were truly inspiring.

Virtual reality connected us all in a way that transcends distance and even loss. Tonight was a reminder of just how powerful and human this technology can be. Rest easy, Daniel. You’ll always be with us.
