@ImpossibleMule Some people seem to, or at least seem to push the idea that it may be. All I’m saying is that any of the words used in relation to it should be preceded by the word ‘artificial’, and we shouldn’t forget what that word is supposed to mean.

@AgeofInfernal I don’t think folk do think AI is conscious. I don’t think folk think it is capable of independent thought and free will. It’s not sentient. Which is not to say that someone might find a way of giving it that in the future.
