The Government will collect £331bn in income tax this year, and spend £333bn on welfare.
In other words, we now spend more on people not working than we raise from those who do.
And the cost?
Debt per person has risen from £11.5k in 2000 (inflation adjusted) to over £41k today.

@RachelT1722 @toffael @NJ_Timothy I don't think we can. If your aim is to split the British union up that won't keep our British union together it will destroy it. And that goes against british culture.

@InPoetsShoes @toffael @NJ_Timothy The United Kingdom is about 200-300 years old depending on what term used. England is 1,099 years old. I'm English first. We can be British without a political union.

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

We'll always be British as we're from the British isles!!!
As you noted English & Welsh have differences!!!

@InPoetsShoes @toffael @NJ_Timothy Tbh British & English is used interchangeably, we share ancestry and many cultural norms obviously; we are like cousins we see at family parties but ultimately our main focus is on our immediate family!
I'd prefer the UK to break up though!! But we'll always be British.

@InPoetsShoes @toffael @NJ_Timothy You were referring to the peace agreement and that was purely on politics and a future vote for reunification.
We didn't have such cultural clashes on mainland GB except for IRA terrorism.

A hundred years ago there were just 10,000 muslims in Britain, 50,000 in 1961 but today? 4 million+ (likely 5 million post Boris & Rishi wave)

How the Welsh feel is up to them, I don't live in Wales! I support the Welsh and Scottish and Irish for that matter keeping their traditions and culture should they wish.

Ive just had to pay for an old ladies shopping in Aldi. The poor woman only had £5 & her shopping was 8.97. I could see she was extremely embarrassed passing things back to the cashier, it was heartbreaking. Meanwhile illegal invaders are given hotels, meals, & cash which they use for gambling & booze. What an absolute piss take. This & the previous government should hang their heads in shame!

@InPoetsShoes @toffael @NJ_Timothy The peace agreement was about political system and terrorism not culture. I'd rather the Irish went home and we just take the 500,000 loyalists, we can trade millions for the 500,000!
It was never about culture, Ireland wanted independence, they never fully got it.

OK but that surely is an issue with anyone not speaking English. I guess how the Welsh can feel when welsh is not spoken. Unless Welsh is not ok?

Islam is a cultural clash to the west.
The cultural aspects to Islam doesn't feel English not British. They chant in Arabic not English.

By cultural you mean terrorism? We have Islamic terrorism, do you think we need a peace agreement?
Ireland should be reunited. Hardly a cultural clash, more political & sovereignty.
