Morning. The last 48 hours of Codex and ChatGPT Work have been intense! Three important updates:
- Temporarily removing the 5 hour usage limit restriction for all Plus, Business and Pro plans
- Rolling out changes that will make GPT 5.6 Sol more efficient across the board and that will be reflected in less usage being used so that it can take you further. Exact impact to be quantified and shared
- We hit 6M active users, and are landing a usage reset in the next hour

tanto claude como codex já chegaram em um nível de excelência em programação entre outras coisas, não precisa avançar mais com custo maior de tokens, o que precisa agora é começar a diminuir os custos de tokens. Se utilizando o SOL no ultra conseguimos 0.9 de um prompt e esgota o limite, o proximo não vai aguentar nem 0.3 de um prompt. GPT 5.3 aguentavva no minimo uns 30~40 prompts, 5.4 aguentava 10 prompts, 5.5 aguenta 3, e o 5.6 aguenta 0.9 na conta plus.

fully quit the new chatgpt desktop app a few hours ago with 24% left of my 5 hr usage, open the app a few hours later and its at 0%
why does stuff like this always happen? im getting really tired of these issues with limits in codex. this is the second time something like this has happened, and the first time i was told it wasnt any issue on openais end and it was just from normal use. this is so ridiculous

@kimmonismus 5.3 = 30 prompts, 5.4 = 10 prompts, 5.5 = 3 prompts, 5.6 = 0.9 prompts(não consegue finalizar na maioria das vezes, mesmo tarefas de 1 hora).

GPT-5.6 Sol is 54% more token-efficient for agentic coding tasks, according to Sam Altman. GPT-5.6 Sol is great. But token efficiency is the one thing I just can't seem to confirm. I've never used up my rate limits faster than I do now - even on the "Pro" tier.

I like choices... but now I have:
2x modes (Codex vs. Work mode)
3x GPT-5.6 models (Sol, Terra, Luna)
5x effort levels (Light, Medium, High, Extra High, Ultra)
That's 2 x 3 x 5 = 30 possible configurations for a query 🤯
What happened to "Auto" mode?

@jumperz 1 prompt na versão Plus e esgotou meu token de 5 horas usando SOL 5.6 no ultra, só ficou faltando ele usar o probe pra confirmar e fechar, fui testar o meu programa, ele não corrigiu o bug e ainda piorou o bug. Vou continuar no 5.5

gpt 5.6 is honestly making the $200 pro plan harder to justify…
when 5.5 never made me think about usage..
now you’ve got sol, terra, and luna, all with different limits and usage costs…
so Instead of just picking the best model for the job, you’re constantly trying to make your quota last…
basically the models got better, but the overall experience somehow feels worse…
am I the only one thinking this?

GPT 5.6 early read > sol is the heavy hitter, but the usage burn is brutal > terra looks like the surprise winner so far > luna feels like the fast model people will actually use all day > the biggest upgrade is bug hunting / review > 5.6 is catching issues 5.5 X-High missed > repo-wide changes look much more confident > frontend taste still seems inconsistent > ultra sounds powerful, but not practical for casual use > best workflow: Sol for judgment, Terra/Luna for execution not ready to call it fable level, but this is clearly the first OpenAI drop in a while that feels like a real jump.
