The Government of India has introduced Electronic Overseas Citizen of India (e-OCI) Card with effect from 30 June 2026 for both new applicants and existing OCI Card holders. The new e-OCI Card incorporates enhanced security features and enables OCI cardholders to travel and avail services without carrying a physical OCI booklet. The e-OCI card can be downloaded by login into OCI portal (ociservices.gov.in) and through the official ‘Indian Visa Su-Swagatam' mobile app. Existing physical booklets remain valid for immigration and other associated services. The Embassy of India in Muscat is closely monitoring the incident involving the vessel GFS Galaxy. So far, 10 Indian crew members have been rescued by the Omani authorities, while one Indian national remains missing. The Embassy is in close contact with the Omani authorities, the vessel's management, and the concerned stakeholders, and is extending all possible assistance.
