Gold is being illegally imported into India under the guise of Platinum Jewellery. Jewellery Comprises of 88% Gold which is being declared as Platinum Jewellery evading the Duty on Gold. Gold is then extracted from this jewellery and sold in India which is a blatant misuse of customs norms and tariff classification. Authorities must urgently investigate and act. @PiyushGoyal @PiyushGoyalOffc @mumbaicus @mumbaicus1 @Delhicustoms @Ahmd_Customs @cbic_india @DoC_GoI @nsitharamanoffc @dgftindia @FinMinIndia @nsitharaman @PMOIndia @ndtv @livemint @republic @DeccanChronicle @CNBCTV18News @TOIIndiaNews

Large-scale gold smuggling is being routed through misuse of Foreign Trade Agreement under HSN 71131920 / 71131922 by declaring imports as “platinum jewellery” that actually contains ~88% gold. This is being done for duty evasion - enabling zero-duty entry, after which the material is refined and sold as pure gold. Tons have already been cleared via Mumbai port. This is systemic abuse, urgent investigation and strict action needed. @PiyushGoyal @PiyushGoyalOffc @mumbaicus @mumbaicus1 @Delhicustoms @Ahmd_Customs @cbic_india @DoC_GoI @nsitharamanoffc @dgftindia @FinMinIndia @nsitharaman @PMOIndia @ndtv @livemint @republic @DeccanChronicle @CNBCTV18News @TOIIndiaNews
