Pleased to launch India’s campaign for the @UN Security Council 2028-29. Underlined 🇮🇳’s approach rooted in SHANTI - Securing Holistic Advancement through Norms, Trust and Integrity. We will prioritise : ➡️ Strengthening the Voice of Global South, and factoring its concerns on international peace & security. The Global South must play a greater role in determining our common future. ➡️ Advancing reformed multilateralism, making it democratic, representative and effective. India’s approach will be guided by dialogue, cooperation, and bridging differences. ➡️ A future-ready Peacekeeping, making it better equipped, technologically enabled, realistically mandated and focused on core objectives. Guided by the Women, Peace and Security agenda, we will always champion the role of women peacekeepers. ➡️ A human-centric vision of Artificial Intelligence anchored in inclusivity, security and public good. We are equally determined to counter its misuse and threats to international peace and security. ➡️ Promoting a free, open and rules-based maritime order in accordance with international law, especially UNCLOS. Maintaining safe and unimpeded flow of maritime commerce, combating piracy, safety of seafarers and promoting HADR missions will be our priority. ➡️ Countering terror financing through effective and sustained efforts. A transparent sanctions regime with objective and evidence based proposals for listing of terrorist groups is the need of the hour. A reformed, representative and results-driven Security Council needs a voice of the Global South at the table. 🇮🇳 🇺🇳

An outstanding performance by our youngsters! Congratulations to the Indian contingent of Kanishk Jain, Riddhesh Anant Bendale, Rishit Garg, Shresth Suraiya and Svarit Joshi for winning Gold Medals at the 56th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2026 held in Bucaramanga, Colombia. Their feat reflects yet another example of the limitless potential of our Yuva Shakti and their passion towards science and research. Equally commendable is the fact that in the last decade, our students have performed exceptionally well in the various editions of this platform.

PM Luxon and I firmly believe that the greatest strength of our relationship lies in our people-to-people ties. In that spirit, we will enhance cooperation in education, sports, culture, heritage and creative industries.

The areas which were prominently covered in the talks with PM Luxon include trade, technology and investment linkages. We have also developed a strong framework for cooperation in agriculture, dairy and food processing. Equally important is the emphasis on healthcare and traditional medicine. Our growing cooperation in defence and security reflects the deep strategic trust between our two countries. This is something we will build on as well.

Held extensive and fruitful talks with PM Luxon in Auckland this morning. His own visit to India last year energised our bilateral partnership and my visit today, the first by an Indian Prime Minister in 4 decades, has added further momentum to the India-New Zealand friendship. We have decided to elevate our ties to a Strategic Partnership. We will move forward across every sector with clear goals and concrete outcomes. @chrisluxonmp

There could be immense economic opportunities in sectors such as services, technology and talent mobility. India’s PLI Schemes have helped strengthen manufacturing. At the same time, there is rapid growth in infrastructure be it airports, regional connectivity, cargo and logistics. India offers immense opportunities in areas such as food processing, FinTech, space and more.

At the India-New Zealand business event in Auckland, which I attended with PM Luxon, I told business leaders: India is not only a market. India is a launchpad for global growth. Together, let us take this economic partnership to new heights! @chrisluxonmp

This has been a great year for the India-New Zealand partnership. Earlier this year, our nations concluded a Free Trade Agreement in record time and now, we have elevated our ties to a Strategic Partnership. Next up, we wish to double bilateral trade by 2030!

Sports have always been a strong bridge between India and New Zealand. This year, we are also marking a century of vibrant sporting ties. In Auckland, PM Luxon and I attended a Sporting Showcase, where we saw a range of cutting-edge sporting innovations. It was wonderful to see how technology and creativity are shaping the future of sports while bringing our two nations even closer. @chrisluxonmp
