Same I was confident until I learnt that Rey v Gunther was acc the scheduled match for mania, then I got a bit iffy on it. Thought Gunther would have another opponent. And I guess shenanigans like a double count out or sum shit like that would work but I was thinking would they pull a raw type screwy main event finish for a big mania match between the 2 of them? Idk.

No, I didn’t say that nor would I think they’d ever do that if he was available. Last yr he legit had an open challenge bc they had nothing for him and they couldn’t not have Randy Orton on the card. They have a lot of big stars hence why they need two nights to get everyone on there (men and women). I was looking at it from a Gunther POV as he retired and tapped out John Cena. Not forgetting about AJ Styles also. Naturally from that I would think he’d have a big time Mania match which I thought and hoped could be a WWE championship programme but it wasn’t to be. But that don’t mean I wanted Randy off the card, he could’ve always done something different. I don’t want Gunther to do something “meaningless” also when you should be building on the equity of him retiring the goat in Cena and AJ Styles lmao.

Considering the names he’s faced on the last big PLE/SNME shows he’s appeared on (Cena and Styles) to then face Rey Mysterio, a 50+yr old at mania and that not be a retirement match would just be weird booking imo when his whole current gimmick is retiring ppl. I would bet that this whole match was more Cenas vision.
