@adxtyahq They were just too early, with AI that will allow to recreate ultra realistic world on demand, the metaverse could then really blow up

This might be the most expensive “what if” in tech - Mark Zuckerberg goes all in on VR - Meta acquires Oculus ($2B) - rebrands entire company (2021) - calls the vision: the Metaverse - hires thousands for Reality Labs - invests ~$80,000,000,000+ - builds the metaverse vision - launches Horizon Worlds - users don’t stick - losses pile up (billions/year) - attention shifts to AI one of the biggest bets in tech...

JUST IN: Meta announces they'll be shutting down the Metaverse, after pouring $80,000,000,000.00 into the project.

Even bigger irony of getting rich is that everything expensive isn't that much better than when you paid normal for it Many things are even worse (most expensive luxury hotels are guaranteed worse than regular simple hotels, I know I tried most of them now) The real reason you wanna get rich is not to buy expensive things It's so that $1M invested gives you 3% to take out every year with no risk, which is $30,000/year Which you can use to travel for $1000/mo on a shoestring budget forever without having to back to some desk job with a shitty boss Aka FREEDOM
@levelsio@levelsio

The irony is that traveling on <$1000/mo is way more fun than >$10,000/mo Luxury travel is extremely boring, comfortable, not challenging, sycophantic (yes sir) Travel on a shoestring budget you get inventive, are forced to meet locals just to survive and get around, have to hitchhike etc I like to combine cheap and luxury travel which keeps my brain from decaying and the contrast actually lets you enjoy both

I still have no idea how I'll pay for my rent this month. And yet, I told a company who was interested to F off. What HR department wanted: - A 3 hours test, uninterrupted - This is recorded - No Google - No AI Yes, I'm dead serious. I have no idea what their intent is there. Maybe check if the person is okay with poor working conditions. Luckily, I still have a few promising leads who have saner hiring processes.

Anthropic found that vibecoding makes engineers worse at reading, writing, debugging, and understanding code and AI-generated code doesn’t even make them significantly faster. Vibecoders right now:
aaron@aarondotdev

Anthropic themselves found that vibecoding hinders SWEs ability to read, write, debug, and understand code. not only that, but AI generated code doesn’t result in a statistically significant increase in speed don’t let your managers scare you into increased productivity. show them this paper straight from Anthropic.

My point is that it was bad advice to take the million and invest it to live with the returns instead of keeping the business. A better advice would be to diversify (half business, half investment) or to keep the business and to make it grow but 1M$ invested would not bring you 100k passive income every year if you need to spend these 100k to sustain your life

@IndieSamMaker @ChrisKruegerDev @DarayuthH @jackfriks If invested $1M in an S&P 500 ETF at the start of 2007, withdrawing $100k at the beginning of each year (2007–2026) for living expenses, and applying actual annual total returns (incl. dividends) to the remaining balance: The portfolio would be at -$1,627,913 today.

@ChrisKruegerDev @DarayuthH @jackfriks @grok if someone followed above advice in 2007 and invested 1M$ in s and p 500 etf and spent 100k$ out of this money every year to sustain his life, how much would he have left today ? You are allowed to answer with a negative number

@ChrisKruegerDev @DarayuthH @jackfriks Yes but if you have to sell your stocks to sustain your life when it's -25 or -50% during two years during the crisis, it will not have the same effect as holding during this time

@jackfriks not financial adviser: take 1 million put it in etf that return 10% per year Then, you have $100k per year for life and you do not have to worry in the future if ur business stop making money

@dagorenouf 50% of invested money in index funds can get wiped out by market changes at any point too The house can also get wiped out by climate change (fire / big storms ect...) With 1500$/day business, you'd have earned 1M$ in less than 2 year, it's definitely the less risky.
