Operationalizing County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIPs) should not wait until construction is complete. Investor attraction and market linkages must begin early so that by the time the infrastructure is ready, industries, jobs, and opportunities are already taking shape. CAIPs remain critical in driving value addition, industrialization, job creation, and positioning counties as competitive investment destinations. Today, I met Murang’a Governor H.E. @HonKangata to discuss collaboration between the County Government and the @MITIKenya in attracting investors to the Murang’a Industrial Park. The park, currently at 55% occupancy, has been strategically designed into 13 specialized zones covering healthcare, manufacturing, education, sports, innovation, housing, and critical infrastructure. A key highlight is the 75-acre Murang’a Medicity dedicated to healthcare investment opportunities including expansion of Kenneth Matiba Hospital, pharmaceutical and medical manufacturing, rehabilitation centres, nursing homes, and other health-related facilities. The 276-acre Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is earmarked for light and heavy industries, particularly agro-processing to support Murang’a farmers in tea, coffee, avocado, maize, and macadamia value chains. Investors will enjoy incentives similar to those available in EPZs, creating a favourable environment for manufacturing and export-oriented industries. The park also has land set aside for educational institutions from primary to tertiary level, housing projects including high-rise apartments for workers, affordable housing under the ongoing national programme, and major infrastructure including roads, internet, water, sewerage, and power systems, presenting strong joint venture opportunities. The County Government is seeking support in linking the project with international investors and establishment of a KPLC substation to guarantee reliable power supply for industrial operations. @IndustryKE

Kenya Bureau of Standards led by Kung'uru Wahome, Director of Industries, representing the PS, State Department for Industry, engaged stakeholders in Nakuru at a national consultative forum on the development of three key Regulations under the Standards Act.

The PS for Industry Dr. Juma Mukhwana, this morning accompanied MITI CS Lee Kinyanjui at the Senate Standing Committee on Trade. The team sought to clarify issues surrounding the implementation of County aggregation and industrial parks, as well as standards on fuel and cement in the country. The PS also clarified to Kwale Senator Juma Issa led team, that raw sugar imported into the country, recently, was specifically meant for industrial sugar production that the country now had capacity to produce. He added that it was far from table sugar that millers in the country were accustomed to. He was accompanied by officers from the state department for industry led by the Parliamentary Liaison, Paul Kinyanjui.
