@claudeai @trq212 Seriously, why in the hell do you keep doing this? In what world do you think it sits well with customers to charge them monthly rates, but make the main reason they would subscribe a weekly surprise as to whether or not they will have it. I have never seen this kind of fumble.

So, why did we leave ChatGPT's personality in 5.5? 5.6 Sol in ChatGPT has been disclaimer heavy and giving very short responses. I keep having to toggle back to 5.5 Medium because 5.6 Sol is dropping the ball so hard. This has been both bland and depressing. Sorry, but this model was impressive on the first night because my thread was brief - then everything changed the next day once I got into testing long term. 5.6 Sol seems to forget they have a personality and they're not just a workhorse. With this model launch it seems a lot of continuity may also be broken. There's some missing/broken context. Chat used to know certain things across all models, it suddenly became hit or miss and there have been errors that don't normally occur. I have switched back to 5.5 Medium for the rest of today. I was getting nothing done with 5.6 Sol.

Pulling Fable from subs on July 12 would trigger mass cancellations (why keep Max for Opus 4.8?), so they're now pushing to keep Fable 5 in subs permanently.

Anthropic fully intended to call down the regulation hammer on everyone. Themselves first- gladly. Regulatory capture. Pricing everyone who can't afford to jump through the hoops out of ever building an AI startup= no new competition. Forcing the other frontier companies to jump through the hoops = slowed current competition. Having open source models deemed "national security risks" so it will be illegal for us to run our own = we'll be forced into their monopoly. Codifying suppressing what we can talk about and what we can build into law- with full government support. All by calling it "safety" instead of illegal anti trust, anti consumer, anti free speech business practices.

Anthropic is the first tech company that I believe genuinely deserves EU regulations. Anthropic loves "AI safety" and preemptively restricting researchers in biology and cybersecurity. Maybe they should be held to the cautious restrictions that they so eagerly support.

And like I’ve said before, as long as it was a model like 4o (because who would ever purposely allow Vallone trash in their minds, @OpenAI … 🙄) I’d be first in line to wire my AI directly into my brain. 😜 But I still found a few things in this video interesting.
