@StPaulsLondon @StPaulsColls @StPaulsLondon this is one of my favourite of the surviving Wren drawings, as it really reveals the workings of the ‘controlling hand’ of Wren - especially decision to raise the lantern by 36ft, requiring the addition of an extra slip of paper to top off the drawing. #genius

In 1868 a Council Chamber was added to the #MaisonDieu #Dover featuring oak furniture with Utrecht velvet, bronze chandeliers, a coffered ceiling with sun burner and carved corbels, and three stained-glass windows by Heaton, Butler & Bayne to a design by W H Lonsdale
