I feel honored and privileged to have been present at several of these vigils with you and the incredible Brighton and Hove community. And thank you for allowing me to remember and eulogize some our friends who we lost from Sha’ar Ha’Negev, our sister community. Am Israel Chai!!

Today was our last vigil in Brighton for the hostages. The 100th one. This community has shown incredible strength given the hate in our city. To keep showing up, to risk, to humanise. Them and us. We cut the ribbons down but our bonds will never be broken.

10 YEARS AGO TODAY ♥️ (It’s exactly 10 years since Mrs Bard & I met so I thought I’d share a little more about the whole story.) It was Halloween 2015 and I was speaking at a business conference in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Having landed early in the morning, I jumped into a taxi and headed to my hotel and, just as I walked into the lobby, saw an old friend and business contact who introduced me to his client - a very tall, beautiful woman called Melissa. My first impression was how white her teeth were. And then I realised why. She was American. 😊 She had an incredible life story. Born on a ranch in the middle of the Great Plains of Oklahoma, she was the youngest of 7 and was driving tractors and helping her dad harvest their family’s 2000 acre ranch by the age of 10. Naturally quite shy and reserved, and far more at home on the ranch than in the corporate world, she had nevertheless made the decision to broaden her horizons and here she was, 30 years later, somehow working in international business event management - heading up a team organising major congresses of up to 30,000 people for a geophysicists association globally. I was completely smitten. (And luckily for me the feelings were mutual!) Eventually. Yes, overcoming 4500miles of distance wasn’t easy or immediate, but we managed to grab time here and there in different countries when our travel schedules matched. And in 2017 we had the most incredible summer after she left her job and took a well-earned break as we explored the UK and spent some extended time together. I popped the question soon after and in 2019 we got married and I moved the the U.S. Mel is incredible. Warm, softly-spoken, generous, kind. THE most warm-hearted human being. We’re still dashing all over the world (Mel now does the same job but in the cosmetics and beauty industry) which means we probably spend 2 months apart each year. And that unfortunately includes today as I am working in Madrid and Mel’s back in the U.S. But we’re both in Rome next week when we’re looking forward to an anniversary dinner. I sometimes think about those ‘sliding door’ moments. And it’s terrifying! What if I’d not got the job in Argentina? What is Mel hadn’t been invited? But I did. And Mel was. I’m so, so lucky. ♥️

Fair. Enjoy (most of the time!!) listening to you, but lost a lot of respect as a result of the 60+ interruptions of @HausdorffMedia. How about an apology (for the constant interruptions) and an invitation to have her back so that we can listen to the full arguments which can either be accepted or challenged (uninterrupted by you and Natasha?).
