This is Mayo!!
Players and managers come and go but the culture hasn’t changed.
County Board backed Andy in a sham process where no other candidates existed.
Used (abused) him to go around the world hyping up our chances trying to extract money from the diaspora.
#timoleary
Key learnings from yesterday’s game:
1. Andy’s project collapsed at the first serious test. A significant rethink is required.
2. Success is built on a solid defence, be that in sport, business, or life.
3. John Prenty hasn’t figured out dynamic pricing.
4. Kobe and his family made the right decision to go to Australia. A serious talent. Best of luck to him
5. A culture of generational failure is compounded
Message for @ConnachtGAA : maybe review the stand ticket price rise and study chapter on customer care : i’m sitting on terrace with Mayo fans evicted from stand season ticket seat that is now empty! 🤮🤮🤮🤮 Brutal management #GAA
@Iniskeaman It is heartwarming to see PJ, might only be a small win but we will take it. Hope it doesn't affect his "volunteer" fee 🤪
On a separate note, Ross smell blood 🙈
Another inquest, another headline: “new lines of inquiry” in the murder of Joe Deacy.
Nearly 9 years on, a 21-year-old died from blunt force trauma and still no one has been held accountable.
At what point does “ongoing” become unacceptable?

@JoeDev579972 So true Joe. To be honest I don’t have an issue paying people. It’s the secrecy and the gaslighting which is the issue which annoys most genuine GAA people.
@Iniskeaman I fully agree with the sentiments but the genie can't be put back in the bottle unfortunately.
Unfortunately the revenue audit seems to have zoned in on minor expenses for jobs like underage refs rather than tackling some of the charlatans rinsing clubs & counties for money.
I have a simple solution to reverse this trend.
The top figures in the GAA (Burns, Ryan, Prenty and others) should return to the role of volunteers.
No more inflated, secret salaries or hidden benefits. Lead from the front. Show what true volunteerism actually means.
The GAA was founded on community, identity, and pride of place, a movement built by ordinary people, for ordinary people, rooted in parish and county, not profit or personal gain.
Restore that ethos at the top, and you might just see the GAA rediscover its true purpose.
You are 100% right John. So we can agree on something 🤣. I have a simple solution to reverse this. Top lads (Burns, Ryan, Prenty…) in the GAA revert to the role of a Volunteer. No more massive secret salaries and benefits. Lead from the front and show what true volunteerism is about. And watch the GAA return to its founding purpose.
@moefitzpatrick 100% Paul, it is getting out of hand completely and volunteers are getting burned out from the constant fundraising efforts just to keep the lights on and teams on the pitch.
You are clearly a solid GAA man John and an active volunteer. So full credit for that. You see things differently to me and also to Kevin. Nothing wrong with that either. In fact it’s healthy. But can I ask you something. Do you ever get sick of the likes of Burns, Ryan and Prenty telling you what a great volunteer you are while at the same time these three individuals are getting well paid to do a job at different level to what you and Kevin do. And what they get paid is a MASSIVE secret. The FAI was no different but it eventually fell apart at the top due to corruption. Burns talks about governance and accountability but he most definitely does not practice it. When challenged he uses the South Armagh governance deck card. Just wondering how all this sits with you. Personally I have worked for 15 years to expose corruption in Mayo and I witnessed situations that you would expect to see in Columbia not in Castlebar.
@wensamsuun@Iniskeaman I'm not comparing the quality of seats whatsoever. From my experience going to matches, kids don't sit still anyway and run around and kick balls, so outside the stand is the best place for them.
