I am a Big Tent Dem. I want (sane) Democratic Socialists in the party to run where they can win. I want (decent, not reactionary) moderates to run where they can win. But this idea that Democrats with solidly left-of-center views are “the enemy” if they don’t bend the knee to socialists is the kind of unnecessary provocation that will keep us fighting each other rather than fighting for the nation.
(Also you can’t really be mad when you call a party the enemy and then the party rejects you).

Personally it’s time that we stop pretending that liberals like Jon Ossoff, Gretchen Whitmer, Mayor Pete, etc. are anything but enemies. She was literally recruited into politics by a Blue Cross/ Blue Shield health insurance executive. They are not progressive.

Owen, what you're asking me to do is agree that Israeli society as a whole is genocidal. I will never agree with that, for a million reasons.
Citing polling data is one thing. People have shown me polls indicating that many Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank supported Hamas's horrific crimes on October 7. Does that make Palestinian society "the most genocidal society on Earth"? Of course not. I've spent years pushing back against exactly that kind of collective demonization.
You're pushing me to endorse the same kind of dehumanization that I've consistently opposed, regardless of who the target is.
The problem here is that many of you in the pro-Palestine movement abroad are trying very hard to impose your narrative on actual Palestinians. The moment we disagree with you, you automatically assume we're the ones who are wrong—not that your own narrative might be flawed.
You're free to hold your own views. What you're not entitled to do is pressure Palestinians to adopt your narrative.

I do not have a very strong opinion on this, but this is a very interesting take. What intrigues me is the parallel to how small vile acts by politicians and leaders that go unpunished then start changing norms and institutions, and get amplified. Think of the US today.
