Are you a student founder, builder, or innovator with a story worth telling? At Innov8 Hub, we believe innovation doesn’t start with funding. It starts with real people, real problems, and the courage to try. We’re opening up our platform to spotlight one student innovation story every week. We want to hear: • What problem are you solving? • What inspired the idea? • What challenges have you faced so far? • What are you building right now? If you’re a student or recent graduate building something meaningful, this is your moment. Share your journey: forms.gle/eQ3Ktnv4sYQpM3…

We waste a lot more food than we realize. Every year, over 1 billion tonnes are thrown away, and a big part of that happens in our homes. It’s the leftovers we don’t finish, the food we forget in the fridge, or the extra we cook and don’t eat. At the same time, millions of people are still struggling to access basic meals. Food waste isn’t just about food; it affects the environment, resources, and people. This International Day of Zero Waste, take a moment to be more intentional with how you consume. Plan better. Store properly. Eat what you make. Zero waste starts on your plate.

This is a strong step in the right direction. For too long, groundbreaking research in Nigeria has lived and died in academic journals. This push toward commercialisation signals a shift from ideas to impact, and that’s how real innovation ecosystems are built. However, proper execution is key: clear pathways, industry collaboration, and sustained funding. At Innov8, we’re excited to see this momentum and remain committed to amplifying, supporting, and shaping conversations that turn Nigerian innovation into global opportunity.

The headlines are buzzing with the record-breaking £8.1 Billion bilateral trade figures between the UK and Nigeria, but for those of us in the innovation ecosystem, the real story isn't just the currency, it's the infrastructure of opportunity. As we navigate March 2026, the "Enhanced Trade & Investment Partnership" (ETIP) is proving to be the most significant bridge built for African startups in a decade. Here is why this matters for every founder, developer, and creative in Nigeria right now: 1. The Fintech Integration (The Global HQ Shift) We are seeing a reversal of the traditional "expansion" model. Nigerian giants like Moniepoint, Kuda, and LemFi aren't just visiting London; they are anchoring their global operations there. With the UK’s Wise now entering the Nigerian market, we are witnessing the birth of a seamless, high-velocity financial corridor that reduces the "Africa Risk" premium for global investors. 2. The "Brain Drain" becomes "Knowledge Exchange" The partnership between the University of Lagos and the University of Birmingham is a game-changer. By co-delivering advanced programs in Applied AI and Digital Communications, we are ensuring that the next generation of Nigerian talent isn't just "outsourced support," but the actual architects of global AI solutions. 3. The Creative Economy as an Export The launch of the SCALE Creative Entrepreneur Award and the EbonyLife expansion in London proves that Nigeria’s "Soft Power" is now a "Hard Asset." Our stories, fashion, and designs are no longer just cultural exports, they are billion-naira industries gaining direct access to the British high street and digital markets. Unlike previous trade agreements, the ETIP isn't focused on raw materials alone. It targets Product-Market Fit on a global scale. This means Nigerian founders Series A and B runway just got longer with easier access to UK-based VC capital. The alignment on IP protection and digital governance also makes Nigerian startups "exit-ready" for the London Stock Exchange. With these deals, Nigeria is no longer just a "frontier market." We are becoming a Global Tech Hub that the world cannot afford to ignore.

Tomatoes are wasted in Nigeria before they even reach the market. Not because of farming but because of poor handling and logistics. Okafor David Augustine is building Agrobot, a robot designed to fix that. He almost quit. Pressure, power issues, survival… But he didn’t. Now, he’s pushing forward with a working prototype and a bigger vision for agriculture in Nigeria. Read his full story: innov8hub.ng/how-a-nigerian… Are you a student founder? The "Solo Founder" is a 2015 myth. The reality in 2026 is that collaboration is king. Most innovators try to build in a vacuum. They protect their "secret sauce" until it goes stale. They forget that the tech titans, the Moniepoints and Flutterwaves, didn't build alone. They leveraged the Triple Pillars: 1️⃣ Academic Research (The Brains) 2️⃣ Government Synergy (The Infrastructure) 3️⃣ Industrial Scale (The Muscle) If your startup doesn't have a seat at all three tables, you aren't building a solution; you’re building a hobby. Stop hiding your idea and start building its ecosystem.

Monday newsletter 🚨🚨 Funke Opeke is not taking her foot off the gas! She laid the cables that expanded internet access across West Africa, sold the company for $320 million, and she's only getting started. On building MainOne and her conviction behind it, she says, "I think I was probably a little bit insane" Read the story about how she founded the company responsible for Nigeria's largest tech acquisition: bigtechthisweek.com/p/funke-opeke-…

This is a good development for the Nigerian Tech Ecosystem. Yet again, Moniepoint shows why it is a leader in it's space. The company is a symbol of possibility with their tremendous growth over the past few years. Any startup planning to scale in a complex market like Nigeria can learn so many lessons from their journey. Kudos to the entire Moniepoint team for the milestone.
Moniepoint Group@moniepoint

Moniepoint Inc has acquired Orda Africa @orda_africa - a business management platform built specifically for food service businesses. Last year, we launched Moniebook to help businesses manage payments, sales, and inventory in one place. Orda takes that further, into one of Nigeria's most active sectors. The food service industry is a significant part of how this economy moves — it creates jobs, drives spending, and serves people every single day. The businesses running it deserve tools that actually fit how they operate. Payments, credit, inventory, staff management, analytics. One platform. Backed by Moniepoint. A new order for food businesses. Read more at Moniepoint.com/orda #Moniepoint #PoweringDreams #OrdaxMoniebook
