If any mutuals want to reach out privately to talk about this, please feel free
God loves you all ❤️ I hope there's some solace in that through everything going on.
Back to Roblox content again after this
Ending this with something Charlie Kirk had said that really resonates with me.
When people stop talking, that's when you get violence. When you stop having a human connection with someone you disagree with, it becomes a lot easier to want to commit violence against that group.
No one should be fearful or lose their life for their speech or their opinions. Most people aren't as bad as you think, you'll realize that if you just talk to them. Create human connection with each other, be comfortable with being uncomfortable, that's what will cause positive change.
At the root of this problem is culture. If there's one thing I hope people take away from this, it is to stop glamorizing violence.
Stop cheering when someone is attacked. Stop celebrating when a public figure is killed. Stop casually calling for the death of people you disagree with.
Its easy to forget that the victim is still a human being, deserving of life and with people who love and care about them. That mindset spreads and creates a culture where violence is normalized. And it doesn't just affect politicians or CEOs, it trickles down to violence against people like you, me, our families, and our friends in this community.
I wasn't planning on posting about this until I felt more comfortable talking about it, but with what happened yesterday, it feels more necessary than ever to start this conversation.
I've been swatted twice in the past year.
And I know I'm not the only one in the Roblox community who has quietly dealt with this.
I really hope Roblox steps up to support its developers. Being a dev shouldn't mean hiding our faces, maintaining complete anonymity, or living in fear.
I had a good conversation with a DevRel employee at RDC about this. They told me that they would escalate this issue internally and start the conversation on Roblox's end. I am optimistic that Roblox will find ways to help us deal with the risks of being public figures that seem to be growing with Roblox's popularity.
This isn't just about me - it's about the safety of our entire community.
My heart breaks for Charlie, and I am praying for his family and friends. The fact that violence like this has become so widespread is terrifying - not just for public figures, but for anyone who is even slightly visible online.
Swatting and assassinations are different, but there is a connection: if people can be put in danger over videogames, limiteds, clout, or whatever, what stops that from escalating to something far worse or more consistent against someone like me, with fewer resources to protect myself than someone like Charlie?
With bad actors seemingly multiplying, and little accountability for crimes like these, it feels like less of a rare incident and more of an ongoing, growing threat.
The first time, it was the middle of the night. My entire local police precinct showed up to my house, demanded I come outside with my hands up. Guns drawn, they grabbed me and put my hands behind my back while they searched my home, questioned neighbors, and scared my family.
A few days later it happened again. This time in the daytime, with fewer officers, and thankfully more caution, but still frightening my family nonetheless.
Since then, my family has moved from the compromised addresses, unrelated to the swattings. That distance is really the only reason I feel comfortable talking about this now.
