@Creator_Rights is one of the only ways virtual creators can help protect their livelihoods.
Complaining on X may get engagement and likes, but it rarely creates lasting change. Imagine if physical workers had never fought for the protections they have today. People need to advocate for their rights and livelihood’s.
In my relatively short time on Roblox, I’ve already seen:
• My own top selling items broken by platform updates.
• Face creators given extremely short deadlines that put their businesses at risk.
• The PLS DONATE update instantly impacting the income of its creator and team.
• Mass AI moderation waves wrongfully banning creators, including myself.
Entire livelihoods are affected overnight.
The reality is this isn’t just a Roblox problem. It’s a metaverse-wide issue. Virtual creators build real businesses, yet the industry still lacks many of the established protections and collective advocacy that workers in traditional industries have fought for over decades.
That’s one of the reasons ardor* intentionally builds across multiple virtual platforms instead of relying on just one. Diversifying doesn’t remove the risk, but it helps prevent one platform from determining the future of our business or my family stability.
Virtual creators deserve advocacy just like every other industry. #Notgoing

“R6 avatars aren’t going away,” but we’re going to pay developers more if they don’t use them.
“2D clothing isn’t going away,” but we’re going to make it so unprofitable that nobody makes them.

This update feels like a slap in the face to 2D clothing designers who've been part of Roblox since the beginning and helped shape avatar customization.
It was never particularly profitable, and this only makes it worse, discouraging creators from continuing.

Roblox is unifying 2D and 3D avatar item publishing. 😬 Creators of 2D clothing will now have to pay a publishing advance of 600 Robux & 200 Robux, and the 2D rate has been drastically cut in half to 30% instead of 70%. This is a drastic change for 2d clothing creators.

In about 7 years of developing on Roblox, this is the first year I'm actually coming to RDC.
I couldn't be more excited to meet all the amazing devs and UGC creators, especially those I've met online but still haven't met in person.
