The Genius in Trump's Tariffs, Simplified in 6 Points Made Easy To Understand 1. Tariffs as a Tool to Lower Borrowing Costs By shaking the markets, tariffs scare investors into buying U.S. bonds. That demand pushes interest rates down, saving the government billions on its massive debt—without needing the Fed to cut rates. Note: - In 2025, the U.S. must refinance $9.2 trillion in maturing debt—$6.5 trillion due by June alone. - By introducing sweeping tariffs, Trump has effectively introduced market uncertainty which pushes investors toward safe assets like U.S. Treasuries. - This will drive down 10-year Treasury yields and reduce interest costs (e.g., a 30-basis point drop = ~$30 billion in savings). - Lower yields are fiscally critical as they help the government refinance at cheaper rates without relying on the Fed. 2. Tariffs Support a Broader Fiscal Reset Through Huge Revenue Boost for the Government Tariffs aren’t just about trade—they bring in serious money. Tariff revenues themselves could bring in $700 billion+ in the first year, creating space for: - Potential tax cuts - Continued social spending (e.g., Social Security, Medicaid) 3. Tariffs are part of a three-pillar strategy a. Lower borrowing costs By introducing sweeping tariffs, the administration is creating the kind of economic uncertainty that drives investors toward safer assets such as long-term U.S. Treasuries. When markets are spooked, capital exits risk/equity assets and piles into safe assets, primarily the 10-year U.S. treasury bond. That demand pushes yields lower. b. Massive spending cuts (targeting $4 billion/day) Cheaper debt does not solve everything. The deficit remains massive—and that is where spending cuts come in. c. Domestic industrial growth Tariffs serve as the ignition switch. By making imports more expensive, they create space for American producers to step back in. The objective is not to punish trade partners—it is to make domestic industry viable again, even if only long enough to rebuild critical capacity. 4. Reviving Domestic Industry and Jobs, Bringing Trillions Back Home Tariffs make imports pricier, which encourages companies to manufacture in the U.S. instead. That means more factories, jobs, and investment—up to $5 trillion in commitments already. - By making imports more expensive, tariffs give American producers room to reclaim market share. - This is not about punishment—it’s about rebuilding critical industrial capacity. - Short-term pain (i.e., higher prices) is front-loaded intentionally, with hopes of job growth and visible recovery by the 2026 midterms. - Key sectors: steel, autos, textiles—heavily present in battleground states. 5. Geopolitical Leverage Through Tariffs Tariffs are leverage. Countries that align with U.S. interests may get exemptions. Those that don’t—like China, Mexico or even Europe—face tougher terms or strategic demands (e.g., on Ukraine, currency, borders). It’s a way to rebuild fairer trade deals. In short, tariffs are diplomatic tools, marking a deliberate shift away from the post-Cold War trade order, which enabled offshoring and dependency. 6. High-Risk, High-Reward Strategy The plan carries serious risks: - If inflation returns or reshoring fails, blowback could be severe. - Still, this is not improvisation—it’s a calculated reset of U.S. fiscal, industrial, and trade policy. Arguably one of the boldest economic strategies in a generation.

@LauraLoomer @ZohranKMamdani The funny thing is, this is what NYC voted for. Their folly is quickly sinking in, and in a way, that's good. That said, yes, something needs to be done asap. Trump needs to mobilise the National Guard

Mamdani @ZohranKMamdani put out a tweet today celebrating Nakba Day and now his supporters are waving Hezbollah flags in the middle of NYC as news broke today that Hezbollah leaders were just caught plotting to commit acts of Islamic terrorism and mass murder at multiple Jewish sites and synagogues in New York City this week. Mamdani is an enabler of Islamic terrorism. It’s only a matter of *when* we have a massive terror attack in New York. Not *If*. Many Americans will die. It will be horrible, and Mamdani will be implicated I predict. His purpose is to usher in the death of as many Americans as possible as a Muslim Communist. He needs to be stopped.

So let me get this straight… The public are being told facial recognition cameras, Digital ID and eventually digital currency are all about “security” and “safety”. Meaning every payment, every document, every movement could one day be linked directly back to YOU. But here’s the part hardly anyone talks about… MPs and members of the Royal Family are reportedly exempt from parts of Digital ID systems for “security reasons”. So the people making the rules won’t fully live under the system themselves. Ordinary people could end up tracked, monitored and fined through one giant digital network… while the political class sit outside it. And they wonder why trust in government is collapsing.

This is TERRIFYING. The way Keir Starmer just responded to @TRobinsonNewEra's Unite the Kingdom Rally sounds like he really wants it to be his January 6th. What is Starmer preparing for? He denounced “hatred” and "racism" (neither of which are on the itinerary). And he said he will use the full force of the law if necessary to prosecute people. He will deploy 4,000 policy officers to the event and will use a massive array of facial recognition cameras to identify people attending. This is actually bone-chilling.

The PM has shifted from ‘Island of Strangers’ empathy for people worried about mass migration to hysterical denunciations. The only thing these positions have in common is that both are products of Keir Starmer’s desperation and failure. x.com/keir_starmer/s…

I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.
