🚨 No Consensus Reached as Yobe G-6 Insists on Direct Primaries After Meeting With VP Shettima The Yobe State G-6 has reaffirmed its commitment to participating in the forthcoming APC governorship primaries through a free, fair, and transparent direct primary process. This was contained in a press release issued after an extensive meeting held today with Vice President Kashim Shettima over the ongoing gubernatorial impasse in Yobe State. In the statement, the group commended the Vice President for his statesmanship, commitment to peace, democratic values, fairness, and efforts aimed at resolving the political situation in the state. The G-6 stated that its remaining members had unanimously resolved to fully participate in the APC governorship primaries in accordance with the Electoral Act 2026 and the party’s guidelines governing direct primaries. The group also called on party supporters, stakeholders, and residents of Yobe State to remain calm, peaceful, law-abiding, and united ahead of the primaries scheduled for May 23, 2026. The statement further announced the voluntary withdrawal of one of its members, Alhaji Lawan Kolo Geidam, from the gubernatorial race in the interest of peace, unity, and democratic progress. According to the release, he pledged support for whoever emerges through a credible and transparent primary election. The G-6 assured the public that it would continue to provide updates on developments surrounding the APC governorship primaries in Yobe State. The statement was signed by 5 members of the G-6, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, Engr. Mustapha Yunusa Maihaja, Hon. Bashir Sheriff Machina, retired IGP Usman Alkali Baba, and Kashim Musa Tumsah.

The Yobe State APC Committee for the Screening of Aspirants for the State House of Assembly will commence its screening exercise in the state. The screening exercise will take place on Tuesday, 12th May 2026, at the Presidential Lodge, Damaturu. Time: 10:00 am. The Yobe State G-6 has commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for his commitment to democratic principles and support for a free, fair, and transparent gubernatorial primary process in the state. In a statement issued in Abuja on May 10, 2026, the group said the Governor’s position would give the people of Yobe State the opportunity to freely choose candidates at all levels without fear or favour. The G-6 also pledged to support a peaceful, credible, and transparent process, whether through consensus or direct primaries, to produce the most acceptable gubernatorial candidate for the state. The group further called on the National Leadership of the All Progressives Congress to ensure a level-playing field and strict adherence to the party’s constitution and guidelines during the primaries.

🚨 All G-6 Yobe State APC gubernatorial aspirants have successfully completed their screening exercise today at Kaduna Governor’s Lodge.

Yobe State Government has partnered with Mutual Commitment Company Ltd to establish a 3 million tonnes-per-annum limestone-to-cement industrial complex aimed at boosting industrialization and economic growth in the state. Governor Mai Mala Buni gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by the company’s Group Managing Director, Liu Long, and his delegation. The project, to be driven by Yobe Mining Development Company Limited, is expected to create jobs, attract investment, enhance infrastructure development, and position Yobe as an emerging cement production hub in Nigeria.

The Yobe State G-6 APC Governorship Aspirants held a meeting with the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, at his residence in Abuja on Today. The Vice President appealed to the G-6 to reconsider its stance on endorsing the former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Baba Mallam Wali, as the preferred candidate. 🚨 Breaking News RELEASE MADE BY ALL THE YOBE STATE APC GUBERNATORIAL ASPIRANTS AFTER THEIR MEETING HELD ON THE 7TH OF MAY, 2026. A meeting of the Yobe State APC Gubernatorial Aspirants was held on Thursday the 7th Day of May 2026, to discuss among other matters, issues of common concern in the interest of the people of Yobe State. After exhaustive deliberations the meeting resolved as follows: i. That the purported endorsement of a particular candidate as the APC gubernatorial consensus candidate does not conform with the general requirements and provisions of the Electoral Act 2026 and the APC Constitution and is therefore unacceptable, II. That the relevant provisions of the Electoral Act relating to consensus should be strictly adhered to , to ensure the emergence of an acceptable and credible gubernatorial Candidate of the APC in Yobe State. iii. That failing an agreement on consensus, there should be a free, fair , transparent and credible direct primaries in line with the APC guidelines on direct primaries. iv. That following the continuous apparent partisanship displayed by the Yobe State APC Chairman , it is very clear that the APC chairman is highly compromised and the Aspirants do not have confidence that he is capable of holding or supervising a free, fair, transparent and credible direct primary election. v. That in light of item (iv )above, the Aspirants strongly demand the immediate withdrawal of the Yobe State APC Chairman from all matters relating to the conduct and supervision of the Yobe state primary election. vi. That the Aspirants unreservedly restate their commitment to the national Leadership of APC and their support for the mandate and re election of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR in the 2027 Presidential election.
