panlivestock.com/2026/03/19/nmr… The latest NMR 500-Herds Report (2025) shows stable herd structure, but cows are leaving younger. Fertility gains have slowed, though key rates are improving. Milk yields are back to 2021 levels, but 1st lactation cows lag behind. SCC continues to improve.

Dr James Hanks presented at the 7th Seminar on Nordic Mastitis Research on 3rd November, discussing UK milk recording data to benchmark SCC and mastitis. Over the past decade, SCC metrics improved e.g. cows dried-off with no SCC ≥ 200k rose from 39.7% (2014) to 51.0% (2023).

Johne’s Disease management is complex, with fatigue and cognitive dissonance hindering control. At the 23rd SIDILV Congress in Italy, @DrEmmaHolt highlighted JD’s impact on herd performance, helping advisors strengthen on-farm engagement. @IDEXX

Grateful to @theBCVA for the chance to present our research at the 2025 Congress in Edinburgh. Our study explored how Johne’s Disease milk ELISA results relate to cattle productivity, great to discuss findings with such an engaged group of veterinary professionals. @IDEXX

Grateful to have been part of such an insightful project. In addition to highlighting how farmers manage Johne’s Disease, the findings reinforced the importance of engagement — so that vet advice not only reaches the ground but is also put into practice. doi.org/10.1016/j.prev…

I attended the BBSRC ELD Project Showcase in Birmingham last week. I thoroughly enjoyed presenting our work on tackling bottlenecks to the use of data for enhanced Johne's Disease control and learning more about the other on-going ELD projects #Johnes

Our annual @NMRgroup study examining key performance indicators (KPIs) is now available. Fertility has improved, milk yields have peaked but milk solids (%) have increased, somatic cell counts remain stable but longevity continues to worsen #benchmark #kpi panlivestock.com/2025/01/13/nmr…
