The Department of the Interior and the U.S. Park Police are working to keep Washington, DC safe and beautiful for everyone who lives, works, and visits ahead of America's 250th.

When a hurricane is approaching, people have common questions. Will my neighborhood flood? Will the roads be passable? How severe will the damage be? Long before a storm makes landfall, scientists at the @USGS are working to help answer those questions. USGS experts forecast coastal erosion, track floodwaters, deploy storm sensors ahead of landfall, and map damage after the storm has passed. Their data helps communities make informed decisions when every minute counts. The 2026 hurricane season just kicked off, and our scientists are helping provide the critical information needed to save lives across the nation.

For the first time since 2007, water is flowing again at the Columbus Fountain in front of Union Station. The restoration is part of @POTUS’s effort to make Washington, D.C. safe and beautiful again ahead of America's 250th birthday.

For nearly two decades, this fountain stood silent. We are so back.

Under @POTUS’ leadership, @Interior is working on projects citywide to support a new GOLDEN AGE for Washington, D.C.

As we approach America's 250th, the Bunker Hill Monument stands as a lasting reminder of what this nation was built on.

Their courage rallied support across the 13 colonies and showed the world this was more than a rebellion. It was a step toward American Independence.

On June 17, 1775, colonial militia faced the British Army in one of the first major battles of the American Revolution. Though British forces claimed the field, the casualties they suffered were staggering.

Looking for a sign to visit America's public lands this summer? We present you with two dancing foxes. This photo was taken at Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, one of the most visited refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System. The view is better at 20 mph anyway. If you’re hitting the road this summer, please stay alert, slow down, and give wildlife a break. The hawk will be watching.

America is turning 250, but the speed limit is not.

The results can be seen in national parks, wildlife refuges, and historic sites across the country, and in Washington, D.C., where restoration projects have helped make the Nation's Capital safe and beautiful again.

As America prepares to celebrate its 250th birthday, we're investing in the places that help tell our nation's story. Signed by @POTUS in 2020, the Great American Outdoors Act is helping repair aging infrastructure and expand access to public lands across the country.
