My dad stopped and helped a lot of turtles cross the road when I was a kid, even snappers. I remember him yelling at some dude that squished a turtle on purpose too…
So of course I also stop and help turtles… showed the kids and then released this guy into the woods.

Never done much auto repair. I've spent at least twice in new tools to replace my tie rods than I would taking it to a shop.

@Inv3ntive15 Here’s the thing though. Our “nice” cars pale in comparison to the “nice” cars in other countries. And theirs are far cheaper too. It’s incredibly stupid.

American affluence has caused lifestyle inflation for everyone.
I grew up eating bologna sandwiches, I don’t feed those to my kids.
My first car was a base model, manual everything. My 2020 Civic base model has car play, adaptive cruise and a back up cam.

it's not about bread or baking bread or cooking it's this weird idea that you should scrimp and eat poverty meals constantly healthy food is far more expensive too! the average grocery bill myself and my mom got is 150 higher than it was like 5 years ago!

@thatfpsguy I think there are other folks like you and me, I just think the vast majority of Americans have embraced the nicer cars and wouldn’t go back. We all gripe about prices but only a small minority would take a stripped down car anymore.

@Inv3ntive15 And I would gladly take a featureless cheap car that gets me from point A to point B. But some boomer fucks in Congress wanna keep Ford and Co. able to make unnecessary dogshit vehicles and charge an arm and a leg for it whilst simultaneously barring foreign markets.

@PunishedAlius @ViriliterageSDG The best selling UTVs are the fancy ones. No legality involved. People like nice things. Look at sales records for base single cab trucks, they stopped selling them because no one bought them.

@PunishedAlius The base option on cars went away because no one was buying them. You can’t buy a manual civic because not enough people want one.
Same as no one wants a 1920s or 1960s house.
Not saying regulation doesn’t play a role too, but people don’t want to live like it’s the 50s.

Former President of the SBC, Bart Barber, just proposed an amendment to our Constitution to ban Baptists in good standing at their churches from serving as messengers if they subscribe to the Baptist Faith & Message 2000, Article XV. This is genuinely insane.
