I was able to load a 10 million polygon photoscan of Ziggy in the @UnrealEngine. Using #UE5's Nanite meshes I was able to load 1000 instances of it at 60fps before I got bored. That's 10 billion polygons and it didn't even blink. It could have handled a lot more than this.

The gap is real but it's not binary. Autonomous "set and forget" agents? Yeah, mostly theater right now. But agents as supervised collaborators — where you stay in the loop and course-correct — that's been working well for months. The problem isn't the tech, it's the marketing framing. People sell "autonomous" when the actual value is "tireless assistant that needs a good manager."

I've been following you on X and wanted to ask if it's possible to get access to the Vite branch of UE4? I've been using unreal engine 4 since its release in 2014, I've self-published games to Steam and PlayStation, and generally consider myself an expert. I only say that to say I might be able to contribute to the engine. I've been working on a game on and off for ~5 years and tried porting over to UE5 but as you obviously know even disabling the core UE5 features the performance so very unreliable. Anyway, great work. Very interesting to see someone respectfully point out the issues with UE5. Tried reaching out through your website but it doesn't seem to accept any email address as valid.

Apple is the only company with a great proposal here: let parents, who buy the devices used by kids, set up kids accounts and decide what they're allowed to do, then pass those decisions to apps through parental controls -- without demanding anyone's identity papers.

Sheriff Chris Nanos gives update on disappearance of Nancy Guthrie: "I really don't want to get into narrowing down the time, because narrowing it down means we could miss some tips and leads. We're working on with the data we've we've submitted for for, investigative analysis. We're working to see if that time can be tightened up." Watch OAN Live on YouTube TV Today!

World models have huge advantages in vast knowledge of the world and ability to mash up varied content and styles. Engines have huge advantages in a stable representation of the world, reproducible simulation, and GPU and power efficient rendering.

They sent a lot of people but everyone died in cryosleep. It was something like 12light years away and it was the only star that isn’t diminishing. I also don’t think he had any real way of getting back. Was just supposed to sent data. I didn’t really like the book but it was harder sci-fi than most.

My understanding of this film is that our star is dying so they send a single person to a very far away star to get something our star needs…a round trip that will take decades even at nearly the speed of light, otherwise it’ll take 1000’s of years. The Martian was super soft on science (despite claims of being hard science). This new film seems to have abandoned the premise of any realistic science.

@henningsanden Shipped 100k units 100% blueprint only games in 2017 to Steam and PlayStation. On caveat is I had to write 15 lines of code++ as a plugin that handled PlayStation achievements. This is probably natively supported now

Can you make a whole game in UE with only blueprints or do you need to code at some point?

If an AV cannot 100% recognize and respect a school bus stop arm, then it does not belong operating freely in neighborhoods where children are loading and unloading. When it comes to kids crossing the street…“We’re still learning” isn’t an acceptable answer.

"Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey" map of Greece on a single 32,768 x 32,768 texture in the Browser. Virtual Texture tech in WebGL 2.0 The source is a 804 Mb PNG. Without Virtual Texture tech you'd need to download that and wait for a few seconds for your browser to decode it before you could use it. Your browser would then crash when it tries to upload it to the GPU :) If we imagine that the upload to the GPU would succeed - it would take 4Gb of VRAM. Virtual Texture loads immediately, because the image is split into small fixed-sized tiles with full LoD chain (mips) and uses 2048x2048, which is just 16 Mb of VRAM. Best wishes to everyone in Iran. It's one of the most ancient centers of civilization and scholarship, full of generous people living without freedom while filling universities and companies around the world with talent. Iranians deserved better than this past 73 years.
