Ireland’s squad for the upcoming international games against Qatar and Canada has now been confirmed and there is a huge amount of fresh talent involved. The squad features a strong League of Ireland contingent, with Shamrock Rovers duo Ed McGinty and Adam Brennan included alongside Bohemians midfielder Dawson Devoy and Cork City goalkeeper Conor Brann. Five players have also received their first ever senior international call-ups: Corrie Ndaba, Alex Murphy, Alex Gilbert, Joe Hodge and Mason Melia. Jaden Umeh is now set for his first involvement with the senior squad and will be available for both fixtures. The only players retained from the previous camp against Grenada are Jason Molumby, Chiedozie Ogbene and James Abankwah.

Ireland’s starting XI for tonight’s game against Grenada in a 3-4-2-1 shape! 🇮🇪 Heimir Hallgrimsson informed the press in Murcia yesterday of the lineup with a night ahead for a number of players, with senior debuts for Tayo Adaramola and Jack Moylan, while James Abankwah and Conor Coventry are both set for their first starts in green. Eiran Cashin had been expected to start the game, but picked up an injury and is not fit enough from the beginning, although he is still part of the matchday squad.

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐈𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫! 🇮🇪 As expected, Lincoln City’s Jack Moylan has been included after a superb season that has also seen him nominated for League One Player of the Year. Moylan has delivered 10 goals and 4 assists in the league, playing a huge role in Lincoln’s historic promotion and underlining just how impressive his campaign has been. Cardiff City left-back Joel Bagan is also in the Team of the Year, capping off a brilliant weekend after Cardiff sealed promotion with a 3-1 win over Reading. Bagan has been one of their most consistent performers all season and fully deserves the recognition. Two players performing at a high level in positions Ireland could use fresh options in and would expect both men to be named in the Murcia camp.

𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐃𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐮𝐩 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧! 🏆🇮🇪 A huge night for Troy Parrott as his AZ Alkmaar side produced a magnificent display to defeat NEC Nijmegen 5-1 in the KNVB Cup Final. Parrott played his part in style, registering a goal and an assist on the night. He had to wait until the 95th minute to get on the scoresheet, but of course the striker delivered - sealing the victory with the final goal of the game. It wouldn’t have felt right without the main man getting his moment. The first senior trophy of Parrott’s career… and hopefully the first of many.

What a night for Andrew Omobamidele and Strasbourg!🇮🇪 Trailing 2-0 from the first leg in Mainz, Strasbourg returned home and produced a stunning comeback, thrashing Mainz 4-0 to advance in style. Omobamidele was excellent at the heart of defence - calm in possession, composed throughout, and defensively solid as Strasbourg completely dominated the tie. Strasbourg are a hugely talented young side and a brilliant environment for the defender to develop. With injuries now behind him, Omobamidele is finally getting a consistent run of games. They now face Real Vallecano in the semi-final, and Omobamidele is the last remaining Irish player in European competition this season.

A couple of Irish left wing-backs are really starting to kick on at club level! 🇮🇪 Will Ferry picked up another assist yesterday as Dundee United beat Livingston 3-2. United went ahead early through Ferrt, were rocked by two quickfire Livingston goals, but the wing-back helped spark the comeback as Jim Goodwin’s side came through it and stayed on track. He continues to impress as one of the standout wing-backs in Scotland. He will not be available for the Murcia camp due to the Scottish season still being ongoing, but for the games against Qatar and Canada, he has to be a serious option. With Robbie Brady struggling for minutes and injuries, Ryan Manning known quantity, and Callum O’Dowda only playing sparingly at Ferencváros, the door is open. Another one really catching the eye is Tayo Adaramola. Since stepping up to the Championship with Sheffield Wednesday for the second half of the season, he has really excelled, despite their difficult campaign. He put in another excellent display yesterday, playing the full 90 minutes in a 0-0 draw away to league leaders Coventry. That is a serious test for any wing-back, and he continues to show his quality. He is explosive, aggressive and so dangerous going forward. Defensively, there is still work to do, but the attacking upside is huge. In Ireland’s system, he looks tailor-made for that left wing-back role. The May camp feels like the perfect time to bring him in, give him a first senior cap, and start bedding in a player who looks like he could be Ireland’s long-term answer in that position.

@reptracker Adaramola seems to have played very well. Great to see him getting unexpected sustained championship exposure this yr. Massive preseason ahead, loan or permanent move to championship club next season? He’s a player who would do great on the continent. Next ireland squad call up

Watching this back this morning and I just cannot understand why Ryan Manning would pull Krejčí down like that. It's not the reason we lost last night but this was certainly a mitigating factor straight after going 2-0 up. Tough.

@reptracker Long layoff after another hamstring injury, zero minutes with his club since his return a few days before the international match. He should not have been called up. He’s also a player who seems to take a while to get match sharp, after preseason and layoffs. Big risk

A mixed night from an Irish point of view in the Championship as Preston beat Stoke 3-1 at Deepdale. The big positive was Andrew Moran, who played 77 minutes for Preston and was excellent throughout. Operating in a right-sided central midfield role, he was everywhere - full of energy, quality and composure. As always, Moran made the game look simple, showing his technical class and intelligence on the ball. His quality was rewarded with an inch-perfect pass in behind for Alfie Devine to equalise after Preston had gone 1-0 down early. Another really encouraging performance from Moran. On the other side, Robbie Brady and Bosun Lawal were both unused substitutes for their respective sides. Brady’s situation is a frustrating one, but with players ahead of him and so little football played this season, it is easy to see why opportunities have been limited. Lawal was the more interesting case. He looked likely to get minutes, but Stoke lost both Junior Tchamadeu and Steven Nzonzi to injury on what looked a poor surface, and with the game effectively gone at 3-1, it may simply have been seen as too much of a risk to use a player only just back from a hamstring injury. From an Ireland perspective, that could yet be a positive, with a fresh Bosun Lawal now building towards next Thursday.
