We offer our thoughts and prayers to the untimely passing of Phil Traynor, Father to Courtney, Ryan, Grainne, and Ciara.  Phil was a passionate Monaghan man and Rockland GAA Gael. We offer our sincere condolences to the family at this time. Ár dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

have left for the day. They don’t do it for spectacle or for celebrity. They are unknown - a collection of hearts and feet carrying on a tradition of pride. They deserved better.

And how will their devotion and pride be repaid? They’ve been sensationally let down by those in charge. These are the same people who have marched up 5th Ave in the past in blizzards, monsoons, and unseasonable heat waves long after the TV cameras and The Cardinal…

All participants/marchers are volunteer. They work hard to keep their specific societies & clubs afloat & under tremendous pressures - especially over the past 2 yrs. What were the “series of unfortunate events” that denied these proud Irish men & women their right to march?? twitter.com/bridgetobrienp…

I did meet a proud Longford man I have known for decades along 5th Ave who too was distraught at not being able to march in this years parade. This year should’ve been a celebration for all of NY Irish & a return to some sort of normalcy. Instead it was a kick to the gut for many

@IrishVoiceGP @NYPDnews @StPatsParadeNYC County Longford Association blocked as well. 47th Street cleared out before 2pm. Nearly half the counties didn’t get to march. People from Ireland, born and bred couldn’t march in their own parade. Reviewing stand near empty, and the GM gone by early afternoon.

5th Ave completely empty at 3:57pm… According to #nypd officers at 2:45pm, parade committee decided to shut down St Patricks Day Parade - stopping several counties from marching and others to step off much earlier than scheduled. what was the big rush to end the parade early?
IrishVoiceGaelicPark@IrishVoiceGP

What a disgrace - NYC ST PATRICKS DAY PARADE COMMITTEE ends parade early and @NYPDnews block and harass counties like #Derry #Meath #Wexford #Sligo & #Wicklow from marching up 5th Ave. Bet the corporate sponsors got their steps in however…

Counties & organizations were told to muster and specific times including 2:55pm. NYPD shut down parade before those times. Officers at the scene blaming parade committee for the decision.

50 years ago on Nov 14 1971 Tommie Larkins GAA, in only its third year of existence, won the Galway senior hurling championship. On that day my day lined out with his brothers Eddie, Frank and Tom as the beat a fancied Carnmore GAA club.

20 years after the tragic events of Sept. 11th 2001, Minister @simoncoveney & CG @helenajuly visited the National @Sept11Memorial this week to lay a wreath. They were greeted by Seán Egan, son of FDNY Capt. Martin Egan, as they paid their respects to those who lost their lives.

In memory of those lost on 9/11/2001 especially the 23 NYPD Officers killed that day @nypdgfc retired #23 and it will never be worn on or off the field by members of our club. Every time we take the field our jersey has this patch on it. We will NEVER FORGET their Sacrifice 🇺🇸🇺🇸
