Helloooo by no means do I believe (nor did I say) women don’t need prenatal care or that as a whole it doesn’t improve outcomes. There are aspects of prentatal care that are not evidence based and women should be allowed to make their own medical decisions without repercussions!


Obstetrics has the least evidence-based medicine out of any medical field and we should never label a woman as “non-compliant” when they refuse prenatal care that has never been demonstrated to improve outcomes.

I felt VERY uncomfortable sending this email…but working on normalizing compensating Black women for their labor and acknowledging that I need to prioritize rest to do this important work (and therefore have to stop agreeing to give talks at 4:45 or 5am)
