@seriouslyjokinn So I was an fansubber back in the day, talking like mid 90s. We browsed Usenet posts, or imported like Animage and a lot of word of mouth. I imported a lot of LDs from Japan too.

bold of u to assume that at 2006 they would be able to watch animes 1 hour after it airs on japan with english subs, or was aware of which animes were coming out at that season
im really interested to know how old otakus were able to operate and keep up with latest animes.

no matter how talented you are, you might not end up being successful. whats needed then is either incredible luck with algorithm, or support from others to push you towards where you need and deserve to be. its frustrating when you have neither of those.
