I was accused of being a knob (crazy I know) by stating: 95% of people that don’t hit their marathon race time they wanted is down to starting faster than their capability on the day. Happy to be proved wrong, of course the number is arbitrary, read it as the vast majority.

London marathon stat based on Men gender position. At 5k I was in P13513, I lost another 200 places by 10k and crossed in P13719. By halfway I was in P12536 At mile 26? P8907. I overtook over 4,500 people, 80% of them were in the last 15km. What does that teach us?
