Bringing this thread back because Delta women have been talking about rape culture for years. There is one of many reasons many women from there swore never to step foot in Delta State ever again.

I forgot to add: Before Virginity fee is paid, the girl is usually beaten by her parents or relatives, it doesn't matter the circumstances. A rape victim gets beaten and slut shamed, the rapist drops 40k or 50k and walks free every time he rapes a child.

When we say these skits are ridiculous and harmful, somebody will come and reply with, “But did they force the person with albinism to feature in it?” And that’s where the problem is. Exploitation does not always look like force. Many times, it is limited options. We live in a society where people with albinism are rarely considered for real creative opportunities. They are not cast in serious roles, they are not booked for campaigns, they are not even included in everyday media the way they deserve to be. But once it’s time for a ridiculous skit that portrays them as helpless, confused, or “blind and clueless,” suddenly everyone remembers they exist. I run a talent management agency, and it’s the reality we face everyday . It’s the same pattern everywhere too. Creatives with albinism are invisible to the industry… until it’s International Albinism Awareness Day and brands need CSR content, awareness month design, or a quick “inspirational” moment to post and move on from. So when someone with albinism accepts a demeaning role, it’s not always because they enjoy the stereotype. Sometimes it’s because they barely get gigs. And when opportunities are scarce, people take what they can get, even when it’s humiliating. These skits are so harmful. Some people with albinism have low vision but not like this. These ridiculous skits reinforce dangerous stereotypes. And they keep the industry lazy, because it’s easier to use someone’s identity as a punchline than to create meaningful stories that actually show them as full humans. This is why advocacy matters. We should all be allies. And it’s why I started @mistyglamcorp to create visibility for these talents and force the world to see that people with albinism or other visible differences are more than their skin condition, and far bigger than the stereotypes society keeps recycling. We can really do better than making marginalised communities the joke every time ☹️

What is it with Nollywood and this inauthentic way that actors speak? I typically prefer the Yoruba movies because of their genuineness and relatability. I don’t understand all these spri spri English most of these actors force in movies. Hard to watch.
