Three questions - please vote in all on this thread. Would you be interested in attending Spaces Conversations that have a number of relatively sane people discussing topics such as Crime, Housing, Immigration and Tax?

Europe is the global leader in freedom, free speech and free press. We invented freedom. With the US descending into an autocratic, anti free speech, bureaucratic banana republic, it's up to Europe to lead the free world. We carry the mantel of liberty.

Gript editor John McGuirk gets five-figure settlement over claim he was ‘far right’ US-based news outlet Irish Central also published an apology saying label was ‘unfair’ to conservative commentator A US-based Irish-American online news outlet has agreed to pay €20,000 to conservative website Gript and its editor John McGuirk to settle defamation proceedings. Mr McGuirk and Gript Media sued Irish Studio LLC, owners of the Irish Central website, over an article which identified him as “far right”. That article was published in 2021, around the time Mr McGuirk mistakenly stated that republican group Éirígí was responsible for the murder of journalist Lyra McKee. Mr McGuirk made the comment while appearing as a commentator on RTÉ’s Prime Time programme on March 2 that year. The statement was corrected by presenter Miriam O’Callaghan at the end of the show and an apology was made. RTÉ also agreed to pay €20,000 to three charities. Now the same sum is to be paid to Mr McGuirk and Gript over an Irish Central article about the controversy. A lawyer for Mr McGuirk told Mr Justice Oisín Quinn yesterday that the case had been settled. The judge made orders staying the proceedings with liberty for them to be re-entered if there is an issue with the performance of the settlement. The case is to be mentioned again before the court in November next year. No details of the settlement were disclosed in court. However, the Irish Independent understands that in addition to paying €20,000, Irish Central has also agreed to publish an apology. The wording of the apology is that Irish Central unreservedly apologies to Mr McGuirk for identifying him as “far right” in an article on March 22, 2021, headlined “RTÉ pays €20,000 to charity after Irish republican party falsely accused of murder”. The apology said that it was “unfair” to characterise him as “far right”. “Irish Central also acknowledges that the term carries certain connotations and would like to once again apologise for referring to Mr McGuirk as such,” the apology said. “On reflection, it would have been more accurate and more fair to refer to Mr McGuirk as conservative.” Under the settlement agreement, the sum is to be paid in instalments to the client account of Mr McGuirk’s lawyers Robinson Solicitors over the next 12 months. The agreement includes a clause stating the parties shall not make disparaging comments or remarks about each other to third parties. Irish Central was set up in New York by journalist Niall O’Dowd in 2009 and was purchased in 2016 by a consortium of investors led by venture capitalist Liam Lynch. As well as editing Gript, Mr McGuirk has been a communications executive for Rivada Networks, the US-based communications technology business run by Declan Ganley. Mr McGuirk and Gript are currently being sued for defamation and breach of privacy over an article that wrongly identified a man as the suspect in a stabbing incident outside a school in 2023 which left three children and a creche worker injured. The Gript article did not name the man but included details of an immigration case ruling that was available on legal websites and in which he was named.

Today marks 10yrs since the Bataclan massacre. Muslims slaughtered 130 and maimed 683. Victims were castrated, raped, disembowelled and tortured before execution. French authorities suppressed this fact for 'social cohesion'. This image was taken moments before the attack.🇫🇷

Tackle immigration, the need for additional housing will decrease. We’ll finally catch up with demand, and eventually house prices - and child care costs - will begin to cool. Irish people will be able to buy homes earlier. And start a family earlier too. Natural population growth will start to increase again and our politicians will no longer say we need to import the population of Galway every year due to dwindling birth rates.
