@poperespecter1 @Truth_matters20 Maybe look into what the Bible says about grace & salvation.

@Truth_matters20 Maybe look into what the Catholic Catechism teaches about grace and salvation.

Are you talking about Is. 65:17?
As far as Zech 14 being fulfilled...
Yes, Jesus already reigns as king, but he also hasn't put all of his enemies under his feet yet.
We don't see him ruling and reigning the way that's promised to take place. The enemy is still wandering around like a lion seeking whom he may devour.
If this is the sum total of his rulership and everything that's been promised in the New Covenant, then things have been way overpromised & underdelivered...
English

@IsMrAndre I understand Matthew 5:18 to be 70 AD. Isaiah speaks of the destruction of the original temple as heaven and earth passing away and new ones being made. Also, Jesus already reigns as King, so I see Zech 14 as having already been fulfilled.

Public confession time:
Where I was right: God's Law is important and should be the rule for the home, the church, and the state.
Where I was wrong: There are particular commandments which were exclusive to the religious worship as prescribed in the Mosaic Covenant which do not carry over into the New Covenant.
Christians should still believe God's Law is what governs the world, but we must be sure we understand which commandments make up the Law of the New Covenant.
English

@JoshuaEnsley We also have to remember that there will be a time when Jesus is ruling and reigning on earth, and the ceremonial laws are once again enforced not just for Israel but for every nation -Zec 14
English

Hey bro, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner (I'm changing jobs, moving & trying to start a business so... yeah, terrible timing for anything else lol)
I don't disagree that the ceremonial parts of the law are "growing old and ready to vanish"
I do disagree with the timing.
Christ told us when they would vanish - Matt 5:18
Remember when the author of Hebrews was writing, he, like the Apostles, including Paul, all assumed Christ would return in their lifetimes or shortly after. Cf. 1 Pet 4:7
When Christ returns, heaven & earth will both be cleansed with fire & we will receive a new heaven & new earth not stained with sin.
At that point we will no longer need the ceremonial parts of the law, which cleanses our defiled flesh because this stain of sin will have been removed:
Heb 9:13.
Hebrews is jumping back and forth between the earthly sanctuary, which requires the washings, etc., & the heavenly that Christ entered. Heb 9:11
My daughter is demanding I make her breakfast (I told her I would 15 minutes ago lol), but you get where I'm going with this...
What are your thoughts so far?

@LostMyHats @rabbriansamuel That's a lot of words when simply saying "I'm an ignorant blowhard." would have sufficed.

Calling Jesus “Yeshua” is next-level Judaizing, using a Hebraized version of His name because not even Jesus is Hebrew enough for them. Because His name isn’t “Yeshua.” It’s Ἰησοῦς (Matthew 1:21).
When specific words or phrases were important, Matthew records them in the native tongue. He does this in 5:22, 6:24, 27:23, and 27:46. But when citing the name of Jesus, he gives the Greek - Ἰησοῦς, not the Hebrew, Yeshua. In fact, Matthew is citing the Greek Septuagint in 1:23, only two verses later for “Emmanuel,” also.
In other words, had the angel named Him Yeshua, Matthew would have said so. Jesus’ name is the most important word imaginable (Phil 2:9-10, Acts 4:12). If it was Hebrew, he’d have used it.
If the Holy Ghost inspired the Scriptures in Greek, then the name Ἰησοῦς is not a mistranslation or downgrade; it’s the canonical, God-breathed form of the name. Greek was chosen deliberately, and every New Testament writer, including the formerly Jewish ones, used that same Greek name.
Jesus’ mother’s name was Greek. His brothers’ names were Greek. Half the disciples’ names were Greek. It’s silly to think that Jesus had a Hebrew name long after people stopped speaking it.
If the angel called Hm Ἰησοῦς, the Scriptures call Him Ἰησοῦς, the Apostles referred to Him as Ἰησοῦς, why are you insisting on the Hebrew?
Jesus quoted the Greek Septuagint - not the Hebrew Bible - roughly 60 times. People trying to be more Hebrew than Jesus need to chill with that nonsense.
Palestine was not a very Hebrew-speaking environment. It was a linguistic crossroads, with Greek, Aramaic, and Latin all in daily use. The average Jew under Roman rule knew Greek; most were fluent. Coins, inscriptions, and government decrees were written in Greek. Even the synagogue readings came from the Septuagint.
Had someone yelled out, “Yeshua” in a crowd, Jesus wouldn’t have looked around. That wasn’t his name. He would have assumed they spoke to someone else.
His name isn’t Yeshua, and never was.
What Judaizers often don’t understand is that Hebrew, as the Israelis speak it, is “re-invented” and contrived, and they probably wouldn’t be able to hold a conversation with anyone in the Bible.
The Hebrew spoken today is not the same language used by David or Jesus. In fact, Hebrew ceased being a spoken, living language nearly 2,000 years ago and had to be painstakingly reconstructed in the 19th and 20th centuries, largely by just making it up.
After the Babylonian exile (6th century BC), Jews largely shifted to Aramaic. By the time of Christ, Aramaic was the daily language of Judea; Hebrew survived only as a liturgical tongue used by priests and scribes (like Latin in medieval Europe). Jesus and the apostles spoke Aramaic and Greek, not conversational Hebrew.
From there, Hebrew completely disappeared as a spoken language. For the next 1,500 years, Jews used Yiddish, Ladino, Arabic, or other regional tongues, reading Hebrew only in prayers or scripture recitation (with no idea how it was actually to be pronounced).
When Zionists in the late 1800s sought to create a Jewish national identity, Eliezer Ben-Yehuda essentially mede up a new “Hebrew” by inventing new words, importing grammar from European languages, and standardizing pronunciation artificially (mostly following Sephardic language models rather than any ancient sound system).
Linguists universally recognize that Modern Hebrew is an engineered language, not an unbroken descendant of Biblical Hebrew. Its vowels are Europeanized (because Jews in Israel are almost all Europeans), and its syntax borrows heavily from Russian, German, and Yiddish. Scholars call it “Israeli Hebrew,” meaning “not actually Hebrew.”
Thus, if David or Jesus heard modern Hebrew spoken in Tel Aviv, they would almost certainly not understand it. It would sound as foreign to them as Gaelic does to an Englishman; vaguely recognizable but completely changed in rhythm, sound, and structure.
Stop Judaizing.
English

I just saw an X post claiming that calling Jesus “Yeshua” is disrespectful to Jews and amounts to cultural appropriation, and that He should be called by any other translation of His name, but never “Yeshua.”
That may be one of the strangest takes I’ve seen in a while.
“Yeshua” was His actual name. If anything, it’s the least appropriated version of His name.
Calling Him Jesus, Yeshua, Iesous, Isa, or any other translation used by different languages is perfectly fine.
But insisting that people must not use the Hebrew name He actually had is a very odd hill to die on.
English

Is it gone?
Even the author of Hebrews said that at that time Christ would not qualify to be an earthly priest (Heb 8:4).
Saying those laws no longer apply also means the apostles didn't get the message even by the end of Acts (Act 21; 22:12, 17; 23:5).
When do you think those laws stopped applying?
English

@IsMrAndre All commandments concerning the temple/tabernacle are exclusive to the Mosaic Covenant because only in it was the temple system prescribed. Since the MC is gone (Hebrews 8:13, 1 Cor 3), all exclusive commands in it expired along with it.
English

@JosephSwar86703 @PeterSilliman That's fair,
How would you define the "OT covenant" and when would you say it ends?
English

@IsMrAndre @PeterSilliman Dispensation was a poor choice of words. Covenant.
English

@JosephSwar86703 @PeterSilliman That's why I asked...
So I'll try again, How would you define the "OT dispensation" and when would you say it ends?
English

@PeterSilliman @IsMrAndre That's not what dispensationalism teaches.
English

@JosephSwar86703 @PeterSilliman How would you define the "OT dispensation" and when would you say it ends?
English

@PeterSilliman They lived in the OT dispensation.
Btw, this disproves your interpretation about commandment keeping for righteousness.
English

@AddictionMyth @PeterSilliman @Bounc3r2 @MilesTeg11 I'm sorry bro... I just can't.
Normally, I'll go back and forth with people as long as they are willing to talk & have conversation but your ideas are so far from reality or anything found in scripture that we don't even have a place to start.
English

@IsMrAndre @PeterSilliman @Bounc3r2 @MilesTeg11 Torah law was just a starter kit to create a great nation and breed prophets and the Messiah. It culminated in Jesus, who freed us from it. It was never intended to be permanent.
Now we are under American law, which is based on love for our neighbors.

English

Jesus said, loving God and loving your neighbor sums up ALL other commandments of God..
A person who says Gods commandments are a curse that needs to be removed is rejecting this clear teaching of Jesus.
If the two greatest commandments "Sum up" all others, then
Every commandment of God shows a detail on how to love God or how to love your neighbor,
And was given by a God that loves YOU.
English

@AddictionMyth @PeterSilliman @Bounc3r2 @MilesTeg11 My standards are stated throughout the bible. You can find them consolidated in Leviticus, Deuteronomy, & Matthew 5.
Where do you get your standards from since it's obviously not the Bible?
English

@IsMrAndre @PeterSilliman @Bounc3r2 @MilesTeg11 You can disagree! Your sin is refusing to present your positions on these issues. That is lawlessness. You sin not only against me, but against the people you judge with your unstated standards.
When we agree on the law, Jesus will be among us. And not until then.
English

@AddictionMyth @PeterSilliman @Bounc3r2 @MilesTeg11 There is nothing in this photo you shared from the Word of God. Most of it is antithetical to the Word.

English

@IsMrAndre @PeterSilliman @Bounc3r2 @MilesTeg11 Insulting me for sharing the word of God, while claiming biblical authority, is unforgivable. bible.com/bible/59/MRK.3…

Statements like yours are exactly why Paul wrote this:
11 Let a woman learn quietly with all submissiveness. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. - 1 Timothy 2:11–14
English

Incorrect. In fact you would be deemed her. You and many others.
Revelation was warning about Christs FIRST (and only) fleshly coming.
Jesus is the Word of God. How many times did they (you)
Gotta have it standing in front of you?
But yall don’t “see”, see?
You refuse.
Been at this way too long.
John the Baptist wrote Revelation. About the LAMB of God. Slain.
It was Jesus who warned GODS WRATH therefore was coming upon them. And it did. Thru Rome.
English

Jezebel was a Phoenician princess who married Ahab, king of Israel, and brought the worship of Baal with her.
She led God’s people into idolatry (1 Kings 16:31–33). She killed the Lord’s prophets and hunted Elijah (1 Kings 18–19). She used deception and abuse of power to destroy an innocent man, forging letters in the king’s name and arranging false witnesses to have Naboth executed for his vineyard (1 Kings 21). And she dominated a weak king who stood by and let her do it.
Elijah prophesied that dogs would devour her (1 Kings 21:23). And in 2 Kings 9 it happens. She is thrown from a window, trampled, and eaten by dogs.
But her name makes it into the New Testament, when Jesus rebukes the church in Thyatira for tolerating “that woman Jezebel” who calls herself a prophetess and leads believers into immorality and idolatry (Revelation 2:20).
Why? Because the story of Jezebel is about a pattern. An era. False authority that infiltrates from within, seduces God’s people away from truth, silences genuine voices (the prophets), manufactures lies (the sealed letters, the false witnesses, the legal proceeding), and thrives wherever those who can stop her are passive.
What Jezebel represents is so important that we are warned about it by Christ in Revelation. And the warning isn’t aimed at the Jezebel or the deceiver. It’s aimed at those who tolerate the deceptions.
We live in a time when influential voices build massive followings by mixing truth with fabrication, by destroying innocent people’s reputations with nothing more than vibes. They get rich from it. And audiences and institutions tolerate it because confrontation is costly.
By the time of Revelation, Jezebel had been dead for roughly 900 years. Jesus wasn’t confused about the timeline. He took a dead queen’s name and applied it to a living deception, because Jezebel had become a spirit that recurs. An era.
And the Jezebel era is easy to spot if you read Kings.
Truth is inverted. Baal was enthroned where Yahweh belonged. Isaiah 5:20 describes this: calling evil good and good evil, darkness light and light darkness.
The truth-tellers are attacked relentlessly. The prophets were killed or driven into caves, and even Elijah ends up under the broom tree wanting to die, convinced he is the only one left. A Jezebel era doesn’t just spread lies. It demoralizes the truth-tellers until they become silent.
Those in power are too passive. Ahab knew, and did nothing to stop her. The era isn’t sustained by the deceiver alone but by everyone with authority who finds it easier to look away, or by anyone who has the power to push back and doesn’t.
But God always keeps a remnant.
Seven thousand who did not bow the knee to Baal (1 Kings 19:18).
Because Jezebel eras don’t get reformed. They get overthrown. And as we learn in Revelation, the time to repent is given, and then it runs out.
Well we are in the Jezebel era. And the only way out is through. That’s why people have to fight for truth, judge those they listen to by the fruits those people produce, pray for and exercise discernment, and be the remnant.
Not Ahab.
