As shocking as that sounds to many on the Right themselves, there is a ceiling to conservative masochism. There’s a point where the “aww shucks, we’ll get them next time” mentality stops commanding belief in people because they (or more accurately their generational successors) realize there may not be a “next time”.
At some point, we run out of abstract things to lose and realize that if we don’t stand up for our own interests as a collective political “we”, then we will cease to exist.
This has been the Right’s story since the mid 20th Century. We’ve lost the schools and universities that indoctrinates our kids, the courts (until recently, and we still are as a disadvantage outside of SCOTUS), the bureaucracy we pay to sabotage us, the culture that influences our families, the corporations we used to reflexively defend out of pure ideology, the cities our ancestors called home, the NGOs that take our tax dollars and redirects to the Left, the elite-coded institutions that treat us as a plague to be cured, and now, finally, the country itself through mass migration.
And now, at the end of that road, we find ourselves lectured to about civility and morality by people who now openly tweet about their bloodlust fantasies of killing us.
All the moral capital Progressives held over the Right has been completely exhausted at this point. We have interests too, and our patience has limits.
