Today I reported a cyclist who rode into me on a pavement in #Greenford. He was riding a hire bike, wearing headphones and using a phone. He managed to stop before causing any serious harm but otherwise ignored me and did not apologise. This is why vulnerable people stay at home.

This painted lady butterfly, Vanessa cardui, arrived in my garden this week. Painted ladies are remarkable migrant butterflies, and it is extraordinary to think this delicate traveller may have journeyed all the way from Europe, or even Africa, before reaching Britain this spring.

The popular museum Blists Hill, in Shropshire, has reopened after being taken over by the National Trust - I visited for the first time today and had a great time. It is fully booked this weekend and I can see why… a lovely day out!

Spotted these gorgeous Common Field Poppies, papaver rhoeas, burning a scarlet hole in the roadside fabric of spacetime near the derelict Lodley Smithy on the road to Hassall Green this morning. These are the first Poppies in bloom that I've seen this year. Stunning!

Stokesay Castle is the nearest English Heritage site where we can use our @cadwwales membership. Wild bees nesting in the gatehouse and swifts and swallows swooping over our heads. Oh, and a bottle of mead to take home.
