We need more housing ambition - period. Staff brought forward a report to allow more homes to be built on Avenues. It's a good step, but I'm concerned it still won't be enough to get projects moving and respond to the housing crisis that continues to grip Toronto. That's why I've asked staff to go back to raise the bar on height and density permissions, especially along rapid transit corridors like Queen Street West; bringing older, outdated study areas up to date; and bringing more mixed-use buildings along the Avenues. And I think more (much more) needs to be done. We will always keep working to tackle our housing crisis with the urgency it deserves.

I first met Isabella Gamk during a solo @POOF_Toronto protest that blocked one lane of traffic on Yonge Street. We have since had countless interactions, with Isabella taking every opportunity to advocate for meaningful rather than incremental change to ODSP. It was bittersweet to attend Isabella’s Exit Stage Left celebration. Isabella has always made me feel seen and understood, even when refusing to denounce my work was an unpopular stance to take. It is unspeakably depressing that our country makes MAID more accessible than social supports that could alleviate suffering for disabled people. Isabella’s send-off was a room full of love and laughter. Apparently not everyone could make it, but you’d never guess because there were already too many people to fit inside! The world will be a bit duller without Isabella’s strength, courage, and humour. Wishing you peace and comfort, my friend. 📸 Oct 26, 2024 #cdnpoli #ProtestMania

@kristynwongtam This is how you do it. By holding the Canadian Federal Government responsible they themselves would implement rent caps and ensure wages are up to snuff so that they wouldn't have to pay so much out to so many people in need. facebook.com/share/p/X4U2jY…

To build solutions to crises like chronic homelessness, other levels of government have had to move forward without waiting for Ford. Why isn't his government excited about investing in the solutions that can tackle chronic homelessness? #ONpoli #TorCen x.com/i/broadcasts/1…

What exactly does the proposed “renovictions” bylaw mean? It means landlords can't use loopholes to evict tenants. No more gaming the system. The proposal goes to the Planning and Housing Committee on Tuesday, October 30, and then to City Council in November for a vote.

@CarymaRules @POOF_Toronto @IsabellaGamk___ It was a great celebration of her! I too wish people on odsp and the federal disability support were treated a lot more fairly. We need to support people who can’t work and give them a liveable income and help them feel more comfortable and at peace in this province and country

@spikestabber @HurleyOCHUCUPE So everyone should self diagnose themselves before seeking medical attention? Then why not just give everyone a license to practice medicine, and that way, when you are too sick to diagnose yourself, a family member or your neighbor can diagnose you.

@HurleyOCHUCUPE Why would you want to spread strep at the ER if you had the choice not to? There are many other means it SHOULD be dealt with for obvious minor cases in progress, walk-ins, doctor, pharmacy, etc.

Premier Ford says people with a severe sore throat should see their doctor and not use an ER. Many people don't have a doctor or can't wait for weeks to see one when they are acutely ill. Strep, for example, can be deadly. They should head to the ER. He needs to add staff to meet the demand.

@AmieVarley It's funny how the Canadian Federal Government has been allowed to shed and get rid of their responsibility of Canadians well being in all aspects... It kind of makes a Canadian wonder just what exactly what do we need the Canadian Federal Government for?

Sorry folks but you can't blame Prime Minister Justin Trudeau for everything. Healthcare in Canada is a PROVINCIAL RESPONSIBILITY. Remember that when you go to the polls.
