You raise some important points. The Elephant in the room is: why should Ugandan artists travel economy, avoid 5 star hotels, or not receive luxury treatment when traveling abroad to perform? Before asking a promoter to pay an artist USD 10,000, provide business-class tickets, and book 5-star accommodation in London, we should first look at the business side of the conversation. The pertinent questions are: 1-What is the actual cost of organizing an event in London? 2-How many people can the booked artist realistically attract both Ugandans and non-Ugandans? 3-What is the capacity of the venue? 4- How much is the target audience willing to pay to watch that artist 5-What does the artist’s technical rider require, if any? 6-Would you personally invest that amount of money in that artist? Is the return worth the risk? Most shows organized by Ugandan promoters in the diaspora attract between 500 and 1,000 audience. Few artists can attract a global non ugandan audience too. Those numbers are still relatively low, which means the return on investment (ROI) is also limited. Here are some of the costs UK promoters often have to deal with: -Economy class tickets: approximately USD 750–1,600 -Business class tickets: approximately USD 2,500–5,000 -Artist performance fees: around USD 3,000- 8000 per artist -Creative visas for each artist -Venue hire -Production costs -Hotel and accommodation -Local transport and meals -Event permits and licensing in Europe Now, if an artist can only attract an audience of 500–1,000 people, and the promoter is hosting four artists on the same event, is it financially viable to provide all of them with the VVIP treatment being suggested? 4 of our big artists left for London to perform earlier today and they took a video sitting in economy. I think our artists need to start negotiating beyond just boarding a plane and start putting up conditions that will push the industry from one step to another, better branding as @SheilahGashumba usually says. I remember 12 years ago @eddykenzoficial woke up one day and told us he won’t be doing economy flights anymore , since then it is either First Class , Business or a private jet and without any of that, he can’t travel out of this country no matter what. He doesn’t sleep in a hotel that is not 5 star in a foreign country. He doesn’t travel alone, His management, media team , Dj or a band are a must. He doesn’t move out to perform without work visas and many other conditions. He wasn’t so big when he put these conditions in place , but still promoters have complied very well over the years and til date , he is the most traveled Ugandan artist with all those conditions, those that didn’t afford , waited until they could afford. It’s all about believing in yourself and knowing your worth and also knowing that you need to move from one level to another for your fans to see growth. Our artists should do away with certain things now that we are looking at having more intl artists. Traveling like ur not a star should stop. Traveling on visit visas to perform should stop because on a bad day you’ll be deported. Being taken out there to sleep at people’s houses should also stop , houses of fellow Ugandans abroad 🤦🏿‍♂️. You don’t need to first be international, if you’re a king at home , whoever wants you should treat you like the king you are. Let’s set standards that will give us the respect that we keep demanding .

FUFA is not designed to be run by people who have never managed a village football club. A president of FUFA is supposed (and even expected) to have the capacity and competence to take difficult decisions, under pressure, and is not in a position to hide behind his function or other employees or officials in order to mitigate his responsibilities. The immense level of power of a FUFA president comes with a corresponding degree of liability, expected leadership and oversight/supervision. A degree which was expected from Magogo and which, in the present matter, is not met. @Sudhirntv @DNyeko

There’s no male Ugandan artist as professional, disciplined about his music career and talented like @IamApass ! I happened to book him last week for Guvnor’s Saturday night Fever, he posted and promoted the gig , did a drop for the night without any reminder. Arrived 1 hour before his performance, he came with his music technician and performed with live instrumental sounds so we can hear his voice. Not seen something like that before! Everyone was happy and complimenting his performance! Apass deserves his flowers. BOOK HIM!
