RIP academic medicine. I can’t even put into words how demoralising it is to study medicine in this country

I can’t help but imagine my own city being told to evacuate within 24 hours. What would you take from your home, knowing it will be destroyed tomorrow? Would you have to leave on foot? Could you? If you have a car, could you sit calmly for hours in the inevitable traffic jam?

While the plan's focus on retention is commendable, it’s important to understand how devastated and burnt-out doctors are. The immediate priority should be ensuring experienced doctors aren't leaving the workforce early due to poor working conditions. @halliday_kath @tomroques
