If Iran posted: "There is no guarantee the plane carrying US diplomats will land safely," Every Western government would call it an act of terrorism. Every headline would say "Iran threatens to murder diplomats."
There would be emergency UN Security Council sessions. An Israeli account posted the same threat about Iranian diplomats, no UN session. No condemnation. No headline. That asymmetry IS the story.

These days, every internet-connected device you own can be bricked by the company that made it. Amazon is killing working Kindles on May 20. Google did it to Nest thermostats. Sonos did it to speakers. The hardware works fine. They just stop giving it permission to function.

My old Kindle still works perfectly.
Probably the highest ROI purchase I've ever made.
Amazon just killed every Kindle made before 2012.
No store access. No downloads. Factory reset and it's a brick.
You bought the device. You bought the books.
Turns out you were renting both.

It doesn't seem unreasonable because we've been conditioned to think 3 to 5 years with any electronic device or appliance is a long stretch of use.
It's not. Planned obsolescence is planned by corporations to earn and hoard billions of dollars while the rest of us struggle.
