Instead of openly condemning terrorists such as Bello Turji, Dogo Gide and Ado Aleru, excuses such as cattle rustling, blocked grazing routes and government neglect are often pushed forward. The result is a growing feeling among many Hausa people that they are “on their own,” sparking a renewed push for Hausa identity awareness and self preservation.
