Today at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, Rwanda’s digital gateway, @IremboGov, was honored with the 2026 GovTech Prize for "Best Government Service in the World." The award was presented by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, recognizing the Government of Rwanda’s visionary digital transformation agenda and its success in providing citizens with seamless, reliable access to public services at a national scale. The milestone was celebrated in the presence of H.E. John Mirenge, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the UAE, and Estelle Kayitesi Indriets, Senior Manager for Policy and Partnerships at Irembo.

One problem I find is that African Startups make the mistake of wanting to build Silicon Valley typed businesses in a continent where there is no supporting infrastructure for that scale. I was on an advisor call for a pre revenue startup in Botswana earlier today and we fought!
