until you see the structural designs of the wall and it’s foundation, you can’t accurately review this But from observation, the wall is too thin for the amount of pressure it’s to be retained but on the other hand, the back fill compaction looks solid as it is done in layers
Civil Engineering Discoveries@CivilEngDis

Is the construction of this retaining wall and the execution of the work technically correct from an engineering perspective, or does it involve errors?

@koftownboy @AnnanPerry as you can see from videos of the site, they have alot of workers or do you think they are paid actor? So my issue about the staffing still stands but if there is proof it was given to a company with no experience and haven’t handles such scopes before we hold them accountable

@koftownboy @AnnanPerry You still circling back to my point i said if there is no experience then we hold them accountable.i was giving a general perspective of what we should be looking at and in that i made it clear. Yes 4 people can’t run an office that’s why all others are contract staffs

Is anyone saying that, he or she doesn't know that road contractors often use by day (laborers) and not permanent workers during construction? Is it intentional to destroy Kwame Agbodza or what?

@koftownboy @AnnanPerry But yet also from the report 4th estate is bringing out there is no mention anywere that the company is newly established unless i missed that part then you point it out to me. But for the workers i still stand on my point!!! Shalom

@Issahsalim46 @AnnanPerry Maybe one day when you are embarking on a project worth a million dollars you will award the contract to a company with just one employee and which was established in the same month you want to award the contract..

@koftownboy @AnnanPerry You see why i said you are bent on making this political. If you read my post to understand, you will see i clearly said i have no problem with the ssnit issue but if it happens the that company has no experience then we can hold the neck of the ones involved…

@truthfuldude96 so the MD might be the only staff at a time but when projects are secured and companies gives out contracts to employees, provisions are made for thier ssnit contributions to be paid from thier salaries.

One thing we are all forgetting is that construction is a project-based industry, they only mobilize full teams when active projects demand it. It is financially prudent for such companies to maintain a lean permanent staff, often consisting mainly of directors. More in Thread
The Fourth Estate@fourthestategh

The SSNIT clearance certificate in the contract document signed between Kwame Governs Agbodza, Minister of Roads and Highways, and Build Managers indicate that the company had only one worker when the contract was signed. Build Managers is upgrading the Apegusu- Mpakadan Feeder Road (9km) at GHS 146 million. Cost per kilometer of the feeder road is GHS16 million.

@truthfuldude96 And if the answers comes out negative then we can call for necks but as i said and still standing on my point, this industry hires based on contracts.

@truthfuldude96 So the real question here is, what experiences does the company have? Has it performed such works before and if yes how did it do? These are the relevant questions we should be asking.

@truthfuldude96 But to answer you, you can see. my last paragraph “Unless the company was a newly established company that has no past experiences or doesn’t have the financial capacity to carry out the work, I don’t think this should be a big deal for real for real”

@koftownboy @AnnanPerry Already addressed this.. Read below and understand how construction companies operate but also maybe one day when you get a construction company employ every staff on permanent basis and see if you survive!!! Shallom

Dear @fourthestategh, Are road contractors expected to keep employees as permanent staff even if they don’t have a contract to execute? How are they supposed to pay them? Most of these contractors hire workers after winning a contract, what we usually call “by-day.” The question of “wheelbarrow contractors” has to do with capacity in terms of logistics. As for the workers, they are hired on a temporary basis. There’s no cause for alarm. What you should be doing is verifying whether these contractors are on-site and doing a quality job, if you have the capacity to determine that.

Why are you guys trying to chase a scandal so much? We all want whats better for the country but lets be truthful and fair in our dealings. Call the government out on whatever you want but don’t try to down play engineering principles with normal everyday interpretations

So as a body that prides yourself with bringing out the truth this shouldn’t have been your come back! At least let the good people of Ghana know that it is perfectly normal for this cost variations to happen depending on what the scope of contract is.
