@CorkGourmetGuy @Helenaclose Enjoying the debate tlyour provoking but your miles off on a number of points there. Lots to do to reset Munster on the right path but your anti Limerick agenda wont help. There is no sutiable stadium in Cork and no funding to build one. We need all of Munster to stick together

@Helenaclose @Munsterrugby The club are based in Limerick, attendances at TP have plummeted by 40%, the club can't afford to pay it's staff. The majority of season tickets in TP are bought by Cork fans, the biggest ever crowds are in Cork. Stay in Limerick and the club dies, is that what you want?

Munster fans may have to face up to the choice of having a team that can compete with the best in Europe, or having a team based in Limerick, because the last 10yrs has shown that you can't have both. The success of @Munsterrugby should be the most important thing. #SUAF

@pointMF @Leeemcnamara @robggill Vs the Stade or Bayonne B teams who's attendances your comping to in prior yrs. Move all such games to Cork if they can sell them out! But what about the rest of the season?( Ive zero interest in this Cork/Limerick rubbish myself. It distracts from our real issues).

@Leeemcnamara @robggill A 2nd string Gloucester and a poor Munster, that'll create an atmosphere alright.

I think this is where Dave and I disagree. PuC is an awful venue for a rugby match. Thomond Park is home of Munster Rugby and that should never change. And we don't know the economics - I don't want to give Cork GAA more money so they can lose more national finals.
Dave Ahern@CorkGourmetGuy

Leinster drew under 22k to the Aviva for the game with Edinburgh (which was a cracker), @Munsterrugby drew 36k fans to Parc Ui Chaoimh for a pool game with Gloucester. It doesn't take a genius to see where the majority of Munster games need to be played. #SUAF

@Leeemcnamara @robggill Indeed. I was part of a group of 20+ who flew in for it. We wont be back. Was dreadful for rugby like Croker was. 30 minute walk in the rain to get there with no transport options isnt a weekly solution long term. If population fixed things D4 would fill Landsdowne Road weekly!

@robggill Exactly - I went down to PuC for the game this season. Just simply isn’t a rugby stadium - poor atmosphere. 36k was from all over the province for the novelty also - as if that would be the norm

@PaulOBrienKil @dmorr80 @CorkGourmetGuy Moving more games to each of the counties certainly seems a good option. The profile of the league is a tough sell season afrer season(look at D4 attendances). Selling season tickets becomes more difficult then but maybe they could move one or two a year (outside Cork/Limerick).

@Istabraq777 @robggill If Limerick starts to produce more players that still doesn't change the fact that Cork has a far bigger population and had proven it can deliver far bigger crowds.

@CorkGourmetGuy @robggill This just isnt true. Our decline came well after. What is true is some opportunites those successes afforded us were squandered/ mismanaged.

@robggill @MitchfireMark @Istabraq777 You could also say that Munster's decline started with the redevelopment of Thomond Park. We've fallen further and further back ever year since it opened. We can't even half fill Thomond Park for some games. So please tell me how continuing the same thing will turn things around

@robggill @CorkGourmetGuy Munsters early success was clearly build on the AIL clubs /club game of the time. We are never going back there but the clubs should play a part of our tapestry. Its a disaster the clubs lose schools players still in 2026. This cup tied rubbish needs binned. Lets the kids play

@CorkGourmetGuy @MitchfireMark @Istabraq777 You are almost getting it Dave. Look at where most players were from in 2000-2010 and what clubs were dominant then. Cork dominance has coincided with the decline of Munster it appears.

@CorkGourmetGuy @robggill the drop in attendance isnt Limerick people. Its accross the board. Losing team loses the passive interest. The last games of the season no competing with peak hurling Munster Champ also a newer disaster for us

@robggill @MitchfireMark @Istabraq777 I couldn't give a toss where Flanagan was born, it has no bearing on how shit he is at his job. Rugby in Limerick at all levels has been in decline for decades, both with clubs and schools. This has mirrored 40% drop in attendance. You have utterly no plan to fix it.

@robggill @CorkGourmetGuy Great point.Munster (the pro side) have always pretty much been ran out of Cork by natives since we went pro, including all staff being based down there. It's intersting to me that most people dont know this(ignore the bluffer Flanagan, Im talking Garrett Fitz. /Philip Quinns etc.

@CorkGourmetGuy There is no proof that the biggest population is our biggest rugby fan base. Thats a disparaging assumption to the rest of the fan base/counties. Our core fan base probably isnt much more than 12k. Fans in stadiums are lip service now. Look at kickoff dates/times etc.

@Istabraq777 You build your stadium where your biggest concentration of fans are, that's why Man Utd don't play their home games in Birmingham. Thomond Park has not worked, we need to find a way to play more games where the fans are or the club faces a massively uncertain future.

Before a single staff member @Munsterrugby is made redundant Ian Flanagan & the board should be made to explain in detail why we're in this situation, how much we need to save, & how much their own salaries, benefits & match trips cost the club They put is in this position #SUAF

@CorkGourmetGuy If the team is successful on the pitch support off it it grows. We've shown many times we will follow them anywhere. The issue is, apart from one URC, weve been in transition for 15+ years.Playing losing rugby doesnt attract new fans and eventually wears thin on your current 1's

@CorkGourmetGuy Your making some great points but dont get dragged into its a Cork vs Limerick thing etc etc. One off games (that didnt sell out) in a ground not good for rugby or fan friendly isnt our answer, nor is splitting our fan base around parochial lines.

The last @Munsterrugby sponsorship deal with Toyota was worth €1.9M a year. The current deal is worth somewhere between €600k-€1M and massively restricts other sponsorship opportunities. By any measure that is an abject failure by Ian Flanagan & the board. #SUAF #FLANAGANOUT

Why have official fan groups of @Munsterrugby not demanded a meeting with Ian Flanagan & the board to discuss the current situation & how they plan to fix it? Season tickets are due to be renewed soon, they can use a campaign of non-renewal as pressure. #SUAF

@Murray_Kinsella Thirdly the Irish media's cheerleaders status is weak.Ask the questions supporters want. At this juncture Sam is a cross Faz seemingly wants to die on.Why? It's disappointing no 10 has put their hand up to own the Irish 10 jersey & it's clearly impacting the team at this point.

@Murray_Kinsella Secondly if Faz or any player is affected by idiots on twitter or any other platform, maybe they should not be in the positions they are. They are well payed guys and criticisism in all forms is part of that at times. Delete the socials and block the outside noise
