Congratulations to Niko Dalheimer who just received the GBM master award at the University of Kaiserslautern! He explored that and how the yeast cytosol can store mitochondrial precursor proteins. An exciting discovery. This prize is well deserved!

@hennajaentti @SjorsScheres I’m also often wondering the same. Amyloid polymorphism in disease is a possibility. Maybe we’ve only seen the structures amenable to our purification methods. Lots to do and learn and to be open to 😉

@SjorsScheres Isn’t there a spectrum of amyloid structures both in vivo and in vitro? As soon as one reconstitutes the molecule it starts to acquire different forms. Does that happen in vivo too? Are there several forms all the time present in vivo?
